Hi all,

I have a pretty wierd question, and noone is probably going to answer it, but it feels good just to put it out there..

I have been painting for over 2 years now, but i still didn't create my own sceme. I am pretty creative when it comes to regular art, but making my own sceme just don't seem to be working tough i want it really bad. So i've pretty much been painting the same 3 units and hero's over and over again. I LOVED the sacred spawing of the coatl in the lizardmen collector's book. And i came up with the idea of making a somewhat bony sceme in the name of the protector god ( forgot his name +1 scaly skin ). I could really use some help and a lot of you guys came up with really neat stuff already!

im not sure of the book your referring to (though it sounds neat, is it one of the previous editions?) but i had an idea about your scheme. the problem with bony is the headdress will be the same color as well as some accessories. perhaps if you do a dark brown (with some wash of course), highlighting gradually lighter with the scales reaching the point of a medium brown, then do some white warpaint on them (think ace ventura when nature calls :)) think it would be a pretty unique scheme and would give you a tribal feel, which kind of goes along with your bony thoughts. anyway, i went with a desert feel for my guys. when the highlighting is done they will brighten up some with more yellow shades. you can check out this link for some inspiration if youd like: http://www.lustria-online.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6310&st=0&sk=t&sd=a

So for both the skin and the scales, same color but different highlight? Mkay, ill try.
I'll just think about the base color brown for today, i'll try to get some pictures on by tomorrow.
Got a big test coming up tomorrow so i wont be doing much painting today :(..

yea use the same base color, say scorched brown, toss a wash on there, then highlight the body and scales with scorched brown again, then mix in some, say, bestial brown 50/50 with scorched (or a lighter brown depending on your tastes). do some edge highlights on the body with straight bestial and continue highlights on the scales up to, say, vomit brown or something in that area. should give you the effect of a nice subdued body with the scales becoming bleached out by the "sun"
 
yup or white, either way. id favor a random body placement over eyes and/or legs, perhaps by dry brushing? OR, and this is just the perfectionist in me speaking, you COULD try and do skeletons on them :). itd show up good over the brown but that kind of detailing (placement size amount etc) would take a longggg time. youd have your bony scheme though. even if you skipped the warpaint and the bone shenanigans, i think itll be a natural looking scheme that will allow you to go vibrant with your feathers and gold, good contrast

Scorched brown bleached bone warpaint..

I'm going to sleep now, will post pic's tomorrow although they're not worth it..

Working on bubonic brown/hawks turquise scheme now. Pic's will follow..

this is a scar-vet i painted resently. I´m painting my saurus in a similar way, exept the scales are a little lighter on the scar-vets.
If anyone would like a painting sheme, I can post it. (I know you probably dont want it mut whatever!)
