    Who's using the GW paints?

Who's using something else? What are you using?

I'm curious, I've been looking at Coat d'Arms (company that used to make the paint for GW) and other brands and I've been wondering what I should buy.

Any comments about GW paint or other paint brands is welcome.

    Thanks!

All my Lizardman stuff in my plog is GW paints with Army Painter Quickshade.

I haven't tried much else, though I always head the Vallejo paints were good.

I have a random assortment of Testor acrylics and enamels,
cheep craft acrylics (brands like apple barel and craft) and
some GW washes, and a few tube acrylics and a big container of india ink.

I use all vallejo paint and I have been very happy with my results. I recently tried the GW washes though and now I am going to invest in some of those, previously I have just mixed my own.

I use all games-workshop paints but i havent tried anything else also. The GW paints work really well and so do their washes so i would recommend them. :D

I tend to use strictly GW paints and supplies for the most part. While they are a tad over priced, They are great quality and make it universally easy to share paint-scheme instructions :D I think the Only thing I don't get from GW is glue, I like The stuff my Local shop has (It's called Zap-a-Gap), and their miniatures of course.

I tried a couple of other paints about a month ago, with decidedly bad results. I think Testor paints were the worst. GW stuff is expensive when you start but sometimes you can find a shop who sell them for less than retail price, and they do last a long while.

I'm currently using Vallejo game color paints, but I use GW's foundation paints and washes.

Mostly using GW just because I used to buy everything from my local GW and still have a lot of paints going... I honestly couldn't recommend them though. The price increases on paint pots has been nuts, you can buy other brands cheaper and with a lot more paint and less wastage due to a more sensible bottle. They are, however, pretty decent quality and as mentioned the names makes it easier when talking paints to other people. A lot of other ranges have exact equivelant colours and conversion charts though. I am personally going to be going Vallejo, but I have only tried their inks so far (good stuff) not the actual paint so I can't say they are good except from what I've heard from others.

I hear that the P3 (Privateer Press) Paint range is quite good, though nobody I know has had any personal experience. I'd love to test out P3 colors myself but I can't seem to find any around where I live. 'Course, I could order some as well, but I am just a tad bit impatient...

I use GW paints for the most part but I do not use their black spray primer. Instead I use something much cheaper (and thinner ftw)! Design Master brand Neutral Gray Primer. Works great! Goes down thinner in one spray than GW primer which is awesome if you like building up layers and layers like I do.

So I went to my local gaming store and found out they had the P3 paints range there. Looking online, I found out they seem to have a decent color range and that the paint itself is of great quality, except for the metallics. Anyone has had experience with those paints? Thanks!

ive been modelling over 30 yrs now & gave up on GW paints bout 15 yrs ago when they changed.
i now use artists acrylics from my local art store about 250 colours in the range including non metal metal colours

i pay £1-25 for a 135ml bottle a little bit thicker than GW paints but very smooth when thinned down & excellant coverage and easy to blend

for washes i use Windsor & Newton inks they do go a long way some of the inks are about 10yrs old and still plenty in them
