KoW Perry Plastics

Does anyone have any experience using Perry Miniatures plastics? I'm contemplating using their 100 Years War models for my Basilean army. I'm particularly interested in how they compare to other plastics, how they go together, paint up, etc. Thanks.

Quality wise they are very good, the sculptors are well known (they used to work for GW and made some very good kits for them), and they use Renedra to tool their plastic moulds, a good UK compary (founded by the Guy who used to do GW plastics before they bought his previous company to move the producting in house, Renedra is also the company that tooled the first Mantic sprues like the elves, dwarves and undead), so the technical production of the plastic sprues is very good.

They use however a more realistic 28mm scale than the 28 heroic mm of GW and other fantasy companies (closer to 30 or sometimes 32mm), but as long as you don't try to mix different scales in the same unit it's usually not a problem.

Thanks. I think they'll work fine, then. The only changes I was thinking about making was to put old GW shields on them if necessary, but I'll test them for look before I glue them on.

I have no experience with Perry Miniatures yet, though I have been eyeing their samurai line for some time.

A lot of people have used them over on the Round Table of Bretonnia though, with great success. The biggest differences I have seen between Perry and other historical lines than straight up GW minis is the size of the weapons and hands, and to some extend the heads/faces. GW minis tend to "exaggerate" the size of these items, hence the "heroic 28mm" scale.

I have also seen fireforge games miniatures used for proxy-Bretonnian armies, also with great success.

Thanks. I'm probably going to get some of the Perry minis for Christmas, so I'm glad they are close enough to work. The point raised that not all people are the same height, so miniatures shouldn't be is well taken. Looking forward to getting them painted and on the table.

I also found the picture I was looking for yesterday: a unit of GW Bretonnian and Perry Miniatures Men-at-arms, assembled by Sir de Rochefort over at the Round Table. He did a good mix of bits, its hard to tell the difference with a good paint job

Bought a box of foot knights and a box of mounted knights off of Amazon today. I'm having trouble finding the French Agincourt infantry, so may have to buy the English and use GW parts to convert to crossbows. We'll see. I'm also contemplating buying a Roman era Scorpion ballista to use for a Heavy Arbalast. But I can't seem to find the plastic one on Amazon either, so I may buy the metal one, or just order direct from Warlord. Not sure yet.

The Perry Plastics are the best range on the market, full stop. They're also the best value. I've got every single one of their medieval boxes (except the Agincourt Knights) and the sheer flexibility they give me is unrivaled. With a little bit of patience and posing skill, you can make anything you want pretty much want.

Try to get the French infantry set: it's one of the best, especially if you like weapon swaps

Good to know! I would love to get some of their samurai models at some point, but none are plastic yet to my knowledge

Thanks. I am really enjoying the ones I bought. I'm going to try to make the foot knights with 18 with hand weapon and shield and 18 with 2 handed weapons. The knights are going to be with lances. But I'm impressed so far.

Mostly from the Foot Knights box, with a few arms and figures from the Agincourt English foot knights.

I have many many more (10 boxes worth: somehow I've only just realised that's around 320 guys) in various states of completion. I could post more if you'd like, but I am planning on putting a load of images up on my blog.

Landknechts are nice looking, but I see them as more applicable to a kingdoms of men force than a basillean.
