Hey, With the recent discussions around cold ones, saurus, and the troglogon, I started thinking about trying something different and wanted to get the thoughts of the forum-goers here. What about trying a list that has one (or even two!) troglodons and several small PF units? I'm thinking 3 units of 5 Cold One Cav, 5 or 6 units of 10-man Saurus blocks, 2 or 3 units of 4 Krox, and cowboys. Wait for the right moment, pile on on a few choice units, and Roar for the win. Yeah, I know, unlikely to do much, but could be fun! Thoughts?
I like the Idea, you might be on to something. I have also wanted to be using the Trog a bit more. You should consider at least two lvl 2 skink "Beast" priest in such a list. They can provide you with: A:Dispell scroll & Cube B: Beast = Cheaper cast on Stegadons, carnosaurs, Coldoneriders(and Scar-vets on a CO), Salamanders/Razordons and even swarms (you seem to like designing controversial lists, maybe you should try these?) Being lvl 2 casters and -1 to cast on any of these, means the priests only need the roll 3-7 on dices for most of the spells remaining in the Beast lore. C: Beast also gives you boost to any who can make good use of PF. B: An unrestricted lore. In Swedish comp, it even gives you +4. But a list like this, should really be build around monsters and cavalry, to get fast into fights. Maybe a couple of chamelions for early warmachine hunting and regular skirmishers to hide the priests in.
I plan on trying something similar but I'm thinking mostly infantry. Cold One Riders have a tendency to run ahead of everyone else so they might not be in range of the Troglodon.
No chameleons, they just doesn't fit in. But 2x3 ripperdactyls for WM-hunting does fit in! But it should be fun with a MSU-list built around the trog
Which could allow them to hit the flank of the main combat. I'd more than likely include a unit of these guys with some vets if i was planning to make a max PF list.
