I was shocked the other day when the staff in my LGS agreed with the claim that the increase in the slann's ward to 2+ from the Plaque of Protection applied only to shooting and not to magic attacks.

I had only taken it as I was running my slann solo for the first time in a while and I was nervous about whether being immune to magic would be enough.

The rules in the LM book just says ranged attacks without specifying any limits or further restrictions so my assumption was all attacks except close combat or possibly some obscure special item counting as CC.

Does anyone have any references to show why PoP doesn't cover all attacks not in base to base contact?

Page 31 BRB say measure range for Spells.

Plaque of Protection says "ranged attacks", that would cover anything that has a range in the description.
