8th Ed. Plaque of Tepok and Dispell Scroll

    In a battle report comment on this site someone said that a player couldn't legally take a Dispell Scroll and The Plaque of Tepok with his Skink Priest. Can someone explain why? I can't find any reference in either the BRB or the Army Book. Thanks.

    because you can only have one arcane item per character,
    (same goes for the other item types)

    Yah, I made this mistake awhile ago. Check out pg 500 of the BRB. That page explains it all in detail.

    The entry Balance of Power says, "A model can only ever choose one item from each category."

    Ah right, thanks! Does that mean that you can't take more than one dispel scroll too?

    EDIT: Also, in a 1000pts game which of these should I replace?

    Yeah only one scroll in 8th edition

    Depends, what are you facing? How key is magic in your plan?

    At 1000 points you will often come against people who forgo magic completely (or at least minimise it) so a scroll is useless, while if you come across a high elf army or such, they can get some decent magic at 1000 points so it is worth having a scroll.

    An extra spell is always useful, but heavens isn't a great lore, at 1000 just iceshard can be enough to swing a key battle
