okay for teh longest time my friend thought that poisoned attacks effected his undead units but I noticed in my 6th edition rule book that it does not effect unliving models. so I guess my question is. can my skinks poisoned attacks actually help fight undead? one of the plans my friend wants to use is the crap forget what it is exactly but a vampire count with this helm that will give all his zombies ws7
Undead are not immune to poison they are effected by poison just like everyone else. So skink poison is just as useful on them as every other race, the only thing I know immune to poison are Ogre Butchers. And the helm can give zombie ws 7 although it be better to give that to grave guards or something more powerful.
By unliving, they meant innanimate things like warmachines and maybe chariots. Undead models can definitely be affected by poison. That helm can be pretty good, but remember WS is not as much a key stat as S or T. So the zombies will hit easier, but still witho nly s2 against your t4 saurus warriors with good armour, so meh. It also cannot be used while the vampire is in combat, I would be happy to fight WS7 zombies if it meant one less vamp to fight in combat. Of course, as Craken said, it is much scarier on Grave Guard..
well against something like that I was thinking of either using the saurus(or just pinning them with jungle swarms) or just going abit nuts and having a huge skink cohort regiment with kroxigors. and by huge I mean one with 40 units in it. the poisoned weapons plus great weapons might put a dent in them.
I know it's been a little while since this topic was active, but i must add that saurus warriors hit WS7 zombies on 5+
And then wound on a 2+, with no armour on the zombies and 2 attacks each from the Saurus. While the zombies will hit on a 3+ with only 1 attack each, wound on a 6, and leave the saurus with their full 4+ or 3+ armour save. I think I know who is going to win that combat without going through all the statistics. Sure the Saurus will have a slightly harder time with only hitting on 5's, but they're still going to win.
Yea if a VC player uses the Helm on Zombies that means A) he doesn't have anything else to give WS 7 too B) Rookie player, or C) thinks that the person will woof all attacks. A VC player would mostly do helm on Grave Guard with +1 to hit banner to give 2+ roll to hits. I used Helm on a Zombie unit against Chosen, not as good as I thought, even though 40 Zombies is hard to get rid of but t2 and s2 is not worth the extra WS of 7 just to spill that out there.
A quick note here, everything can be poisoned except for special units stating so and War Machines, due to Chariots having so many poisonable things, they can be poisoned.
