Hi, i'm knew to the lizardman and haven't really played much warhammer. I wanted to know what Units are not affected by poison? thanks for taking the time to reply.
Nothing really except warmachines (although the crew are!) anything else that it doesn't effect has the immune to poison special rule in their army book
The main rulebook merely says that 'unliving' things are not effected by poison. This, however, does not include undead. It is for warmachines. I think (don't quote me on this) that chariots are also immune to poison, but everything else isn't unless they have a special rule.
Butchers are immune to poison, but that is the only thing I can think of... butwho plays ogres, really? aside from me..
A very small consolation for ogre players, as massed poison shooting tends to tear them to pieces otherwise.
The problem with shooting at certain units is that when you can only hit them on 6's and 4's your poison shooting attacks do not automatically wound. Just be aware that when shooting at skirmishers, small or fast cavalry they will incur a -1 modifier to hit. While moving about and doing multiple shots can easily stack the modifiers enough so you can't poison at all.
Yes when a unit is spread out rather than standing next to each other in ranks, it makes them immune to any poisoned weapons that hit them because...... they...... aren't standing next to each...?? (having a go at GW logic not you, foster ) Skirmishers aren't really the main priority when you are running around with poison. before rolling to hit, a 1/6 or ~16% chance of wounding anything is pretty decent for s3 shots. Especially when they are high toughness but have little to no armour, like the above mentioned giant. Think about it, it is t5 right? Even if you have a s4 gun or something, assuming 3's to hit since it is a large target, you are still only going to cause a wound 21% of the time, if you have s4 at close range and don't move with an average BS. Now skinks only have s3 shots, lose BS for double shot, lose BS for moving (usually) and still have a 16% chance of causing a wound. It still means you will probably only get 1-2 auto wounds from 5 skinks onto a giant, but hell it is a giant they are meant to be hard to kill.
