Does anyone know about warbands? Basically it's a 500 point tourney with a few special rules. Anyway I was thinking 20 Saurus no command in 2 blocks of 10, 16 skinks with blowpipes in 3 squads of 5 (half of min unit size is allowed) and either a skink priest lvl 2 with some ward saves added or a scar vet with the +2 attacks sword. Which one should I take?

Well I am not familiar with the special rules, other than the mentioned half minimum size. Saurus blocks on 10 are too small. As for the sword with two extra attacks, such things are luxury in a game this size. I would very much limit equiping heroes to get more bodies overall. If you run a Scar Vet I would maybe think about giving him a Cold One with a small unit of CoC to take him into combat quickly. Otherwise I recommend a Shammy.
Units of 5 Skinks are doing...nothing at all. Either bump up to a "normal" minimum of 10 or take something else to fill their role.

In any case here is an example of a list:

Lev 2 Shammy with Plaque of Tepok (50% chance to get either Uranos or Chain Lighting)

15 Saurus, Mus, Standard (you can add the Shammy to this unit for protecting him against shooting - depending on situation)

    5 Chameleon skinks

    5 Chameleon skinks

    1 Salamander + Snack

    498 points

    Cheers

The above list is a good one. Make sure that they are not doing a Mordheim warband. If they are, that changes things a bit.

No worries. A shaman is a skink priest. Mordheim is a skirmish game for fantasy that was published by GW a few years ago. The rules are free on the GW website. The Lizardmen rules are harder to find. If you find that you are playing Mordheim and need them, PM me. Mordheim warbands are smaller than a standard fantasy army. Usually there are only about 10 models in a warband. There can be up to 20 in some warbands as well.

If you are doing the tournament at a FLGS (Friendly Local Gaming Store), it probably is a fantasy game. Ask the person that is organizing the event.

    Hope this helps.

Since it is being held at a GW, it will be a standard fantasy game. The list above will be good.

I purchased all of my chameleons through ebay and craigslist (primarily through ebay). However, if you do not want to purchase them (because that is expensive), you could convert regular skinks into chameleons. There are several how-to posts here on how to do that. It could be as simple as cutting the tail off and rolling a new one and putting bulbous eyes on a regular skink.

When you can buy 12 (4 packs of 3) directly from GW, it is not a good deal at all. Now if you do not want to paint them and are willing to pay that extra amount, go for it.

You can paint chameleons fairly quickly. I usually use the green wash on them to start with and work from there.

Well, you have two choices. You could convert some from regular skinks. Or, you could just take 2 units of skink skirmishers. If you take the skirmishers, I would recommend taking the javelin and shield upgrade (if the points allow it). That way, you don't have to worry about to hit modifiers in shooting taking you above 6s. Also, you get a parry save as well (although, the first time the unit is in combat, it will lose probably).

That saurus unit is good. The skinks have to be in a unit of at least 10. So, you cannot split them. Just take the 1 unit of 12. Here is what I would take:

    Combat build
    Saurus Scar-vet
    Shield
Armor of fortune (this gives a 2+ armor save and a 5+ ward save)

    Saurus x 15
    Full command

    Skink Skirmishers x 12
    Javelin and shield

Salamander x 1 with extra handler (snack).

This list has no magic, but at 500 points, it may not matter too much.

thats also good cuz in warbands its 3 d3 dice for magic but it counts as d6 towards their dispell, so if u rolled like a 2, 4, snd 6 u wud get 6 and so wud they
