One question. I plaied with a mage on a steg and with warrior. What would you suggest to put on the steg?
I think that all depends on what you already have or don't have. If this is your first or only Stegadon, I suggest using it as a mount for the Priest with an Engine of the Gods. If you already have all the Engines you want then I think the next step is using the Stegadon as a mount for a Skink Chief who can also carry the Stegadon War Spear. My personal goal is to have four Stegadons: 2 with Engines, 1 Ancient with Skink Chief, and 1 regular with giant bow. I am unlikely to ever field all four at once as that is not how I play my army, but I do like having lots of options. My regular 3000 point list uses two engines and a chief on steg.
I have only one steg with Engine and with priest, but I dont like with him becouse he gets cild to fast
how does he get killed? as long as you keep him away from combat he should be safe from shooting barring warmachines
Aye, warmachines are what you have to watch out for, but that is why we have Terradons As for how you should build the steg. Assemble the Beast and the howdah, then magnetize all the options, so you can field whatever you feel like you want to field.
Let us know how he is getting killed and maybe we can help with tactics. For instance, the War Drum of Xahutec can be used to prevent your Stegadon being march-blocked when an enemy unit is within 8 inches, so he can always march and be harder to catch. Perhaps you could use arc of sight better to prevent being charged. Perhaps you need to use a line of Skink Skirmishers to screen him and prevent him being charged. There is all kinds of things you can do for almost any problem, so let us know!
I love to get in close combat so usually I just charge with him. Usually I play VS dark elves just for fun and the other player always charge him with the black guard. I am trying to block the guard with my skinks but some times it isn’t working. Also I am not a great player with lizardmen, but not a bad to. I have problems with dark elves, nurgle daemons, warriors of chaos and dwarves.
only charge small units with an EotG, anything that stays alive after the charge will probably kill your priest. unless you charge in the flanks of a unit i wouldn't even think about charging. the best result i had with a charging EotG yet is when i charged a unit of DE cold one riders with a master and a bsb in it with the eotg and a BBoC scar vet. he only had the BSB standing after i was done and he didn't manage to do much with him. other than MAYBE cavlary i suggest staying away from combat with it, things hit your priest on a 3+ and probably wound on a 3+ or better and there are only so many armor saves you can make (even less with some modifiers) if you want a steggie that can do something in close combat use a s. chief with the war-spear on an auncient stegadon, that will probably take out any indantry unit on the charge unless they are ASF black guard or demons
