7th Ed. "Proper" army list (2250)

    I've final sat down and made a "proper" list with the new army book. Keep in mind this is suposed to be played in the Australian comp environment (otherwise I would just take a tooled Slann and 3 EoTG :D ).

    Slann - Focus of Mystery, Cupped Hands of the Old Ones, Bane Head, Dispel Scroll, BSB, Sun Standard

    I am theoryhammering using the Temple Guard deathstar as a fulcrum for the rest of my army to roll up. Standard deployment and tactics in a vacuum would look something like this:



    Thoughts? Suggestions? Improvements?

    The list has no replies, implying that either:

    My bet is nr 1 ;). Its probably not "perfect" but its without major (or even minor) flaws, which is usually what people comment on. Its also fairly standard. I can provide a few if my ideas however.

    The Slann + TGs are incredibly pricy already, Sun Standard isnt helping. With 3+ save against shooting and T4 your temple guard will not really go down by shooting and you should be happy the enemy isnt targeting more fragile units like sallies and terradons.

    Your other choices are great, I love the Chotec scar vet, very versatile (even tho I usually have him as BSB to reduce the VP gains from taking out the TG & Slann unit), and the EoTG has one of, of not the, best set up it can have.

    I would probably aim to shave as many pts off as possible on your Slann & TG unit. Right now it has 2 banners, general and 750 tps worth of units, making this single unit worth 1000 VPs. Warbanner is a little overkill, champion can be good but far from nessesary.

    Other than that it looks great, very versatile, all comers and strong (reminds me a lot of Dan Heelans list except with TGs instead of lone etheral slann).

    This is the reason second opinions are so great. In hindsight, ALL my units are move vulnerable to shooting the Slann and TG.

    I think putting a BSB on a scar vet would then make me be to defensive with him.

    I don't mind the large number of VPs earned through killing the unit. If the opponent can kill it, I don't think I stood a chance anyway. But if they TRY to kill it I have a better chance of swinging a flank. Champion will be dropped, but I like the +3 banner combo.

    With these little points shavings I think I will additional skinks to the salamanders and put some cold bodies in the Spear Saurus. I would like to buy more Terradons but the increased comp hit would be disproportional to their use IMO.
