I heard it's good to put a cold one in a unit of saurs for teh fear aspect but I have acouplequestions rules wise When you take teh upgrade that allows a skink or saurs to be a standard bearer. Do the points cost of teh standard count towards teh magic item cost. just wondering if it's viable to take a skink chief give him a horned one and a standard. Or even worth it. Not like I'd enter him in a challenge I'd have him refuse any challenge/ Also if it is...any idea how to make that look good? aka get a skink onto a cold one with a standard
smart guy u or allowed to put a skink on the horned one and it is woth it instead of sending a saurus scar veteran to duy or something and for a model i suggest a tuinchi huinchi rider if u check games workshop bull find one theyre pretty gd if u ask me
Sure, you should be able to do that, but I'm pretty sure that you can't get the horned one if you get a magic banner. I think the rules say that you can't have any other magic items if you chose the magic banner. On a different note. Do you think it could be a good idea to put a skink standard bearer on a stegadon? Or would a skink be a too soft target?

Darn, so would it be a good idea then just to take a skink chief and give him the totem of prophecy and put him with a saurus? My main enemy are undead and I'd rather not deal with that outnumbered by a fear causing enemy rule
Well...if you gave the skink a horned one, the whole unit becomes immune to fear if he is in it, plus he takes the spot of 2 saurus. Or you could use a scar-vet on cold one and also make the unit immune to fear. I feel like a skink on foot with bsb is free VPs...Even on cold one, your looking at a 3+ armor save, 2+ if you hand-wep + shield, but he is only toughness 3. A Scar-vet with same gear gets a 1+ armor save or 0+ with hand-wep + shield, and toughness 5. Plus a scar-vet can hurt people more...
I take it because of the cost of a cold one, the hide of teh cold ones magic item is pretty much worthless?
Not really as you get a +1 to your toughness, cold ones doesn't give that benefit. Wih the charm of the jaguar warrior you could in theory ignore the fact that he's slower on foot. Now I know it can be dispelled and the combo only works on an Old blood, but it still makes for a nice suprise attack ^^
My favorite has got to be Scar-Vet with Hide of the Cold Ones with the bsb in a unit of saurus, then (in an army with slann) cast bears anger on him.. His stats become; M -WS -BS - S -T -W - I - A - LD - 4 - 5 - 0 - 6 - 7 - 2 - 3 - 7 - 8 That just makes me smile...
Wow, that's a pretty lethal combo. Ld 8 + Cold Blooded means you'll pass your Stupidity tests more often than not, too.
Hmmm reeeeeally. If he for sake of argument is in a unit of temple guard can he use the slanns leadership for stupidity tests? And I forget its worded weird in the book how do slanns choose spells? Can I still mix things like metal and beast or is it one school only? Since I lack a carnosaur I may test this with a slann but I want the ability to stop that VC helm of commandment
You can't pick from different Lores anymore, so the Slann picks spells like any other lvl 4 Wizard, unless of course, you have Focus of Mystery.
