Hey folks (uber newb here, sorry if I seem dense about this) - So far I have 16 Saurus Warriors assembled (with command) and a color scheme worked out on one of them. I gave them spears because I got the impression that's the best choice. Would you agree? I like their swords, but dont want to make a unit that's less effective than the spears option. - I was reading somewhere about Slann not being as good as they used to be. True story? I read that after dropping the 45 bucks (Canadian) for one. He's in the box here. - If my army is led by a Slann, is there a certain kind of unit I should not be using? Or one I should use more of? For example, I really like the look of the temple guards and the stegadon (all the options). The Saurus are nice too. Not keen on the Cold One riders.
In my opinion, the slann has only gotten better. Sure his stats are a bit lower, but if he is getting into combat you are doing something wrong. The new slann is much more customizable, with the choice of disciples, and magic items. And they can now cast magic missiles through their skink bretheren. The only downside is they can now mistcast, but thats what the item that gives enemies our miscasts is for
I agree. The Slann is different than they used to be but they are by no means worse. They have more options and utility now. I think they are better. Slann go well with Temple Guard thanks to the Sacred Duty rule granting the unit Immunity to Psychology and Stubbornness when they are both together.
The fellow who postewd above me is dead on. The new Slann are incredible, you can make a decent, but cheap Slann, or a Godly, but expensive one. And them with TG is nigh unstoppable.
The reason why saurus spears has gottn so much more atractive is that the predatory rule is gone and so both 1st and 2nd rank of sauruses get 2 attacks. If you have a saurus block with 5 rank-and-file units with full comand that makes 21 attacks. Pluss that saurus in general has gottn a nice uppgrade from 6th edition: cheaper and improved scaly skin armore save.
I don't really love the look of our CoR either. But it seems to me that they will be our new hammer unit together with an ancient stegadon. As point wise a unit of 5 CoR FC are better than a unit of 4krox or a normal stegadon.
Somebody actually seems to have put the DE cold one heads on one of these, and it looks decent. Just would be a pricey option for sake of aesthetics
I'm actually not that fond of that conversion. The scales on the head don't match with the body. I realize that the Dark Elves' Cold Ones look cooler, but I think they don't fit with the Lizardmen theme.
Yeah I guess it's not the best. I hear the lizardmen are too big looking for the entire DE cold one models. Honestly, I hate the lizardmen ones so much I'm gonna have to go without and hopefully not suffer to much for not having them. I almost favor aesthetics for my army more than tactical feasibility lol (Im more painter than gamer).
you could always chop the head off, and exchange it with something else. mutations! I don't like them either, but they'll do. as about the COs in general I'm only gonna use them when ever something that doesn't take down heavy armour first round is up to battle.
