8th Ed. question about spells and back ranks.

    sorry if this is somewhere but I could not think about how to search for this.

    if I cast something like purple sun of xerues or the pendulum spell from shadows according to the rules it'd basically wipe out my own temple guard.
    So was there something in the faq I missed?

    Yes you would, if they pass through your own models. There is always risk in some spells.

    Pit of Shades, Pendulum, Bad Moon and Purple Sun are all great reasons to use Becalming Cogitation whenever you can and even then it can be bad news.

    In one of my last games I had a Teclis cast purple sun at me every round, it was not the most fun. Although rolling 8 1s when he blasted my temple guard and slann was beautiful and then him misfiring after the cast in the 3rd round and then failing his own initiative and look out sir tests was beautiful. I don't think I have ever loved that figure more than when that happened.
