Say I'm running a 5 wide Skrox unit with 2 Krox in the second rank. To this unit I want to add a Skink Chief on a Ripper/Terradon (to keep him safe from missile fire etc). His base size (40mm) does not conflict with the base size of the skinks (20mm) or the Krox (40mm) so he shouldn't just hang off the side of the unit as you do when footprints don't match. But how on earth do you actually add him to the unit with the Krox in the second rank? What does that look like? If you put the Skink Chief in the Front Rank, does that push the Krox behind him further back? Can the Krox then even attack from there? Any thoughts, peeps? Mightily confusing...
Flying characters cannot join units. But I think unit should look like this: s s s c c k k s c c k k s s s k k k k s k k k k s where k is for kroxigors, c for chief and s for skinks. stressed units cannot attack in CC because they aren't in second rank. Skinks behind chief are there because I believe "unit of kroxigors within kohort" should be even.
Your layout makes sense Trociu, thanks for the input. However, I will have to correct you. Flying Characters can join Units, but Characters cannot join Flying Units. It's a mistake I often see referred to, indeed I even wondered whether to make this clear in the opening post... guess I should have! As a follow up to these Skrox questions, once you've deployed a Skrox unit, can the Krox move around the second rank (ie move from the middle of the unit to be exposed on a flank) during a normal move/march (like Characters can move around a unit) or can that only be done by a (swift) reform?
SSSCC SKKCC SKKKK SSSKK SSSSS Would be my take, as the Second krox would be able to do supporting attacks behind the Cheif. "A model can make a supporting attack if it is directly behind a friendly model that is itself fighting an enemy in base contact".
After looking through rules I think you are right Phatmothaphucka. Character forces skinks to move to second rank, but Kroxigor takes place of those skink because of spawn-kin rule. Moving kroxigors is a reform. Thanks for pointing that flying characters can join units. I have to think outside the box
Yep, n810 is right about Ground Movement rather than the 10" fly. But you can use your characters fly Movement to jump between units and still keep them protected from missile fire. Oh, except skirmishers. Cavalry models can't join skirmishers. I love this game and all its complexities
