since the new lizardmen book came out (which i have not yet purchased) i have heard about changes in the book.
since the changes has it in any way made razors i bit more stronger, are they cheaper at all? same questions go with the sallies. i remember people mainly have chosen sallies, but seeing a new thread with lots of razor lovers, i wanted to know, what changes have been made to them?
yes i am fighting myself not to buy a pack of razors because i'm trying to save up for something special :)

i love the new razors, theyre 32.5ss with 2ss extra handler, sallies are 40ss with 2ss extra snack.

i dont have the book on me right now but i know the range is now 18" fired as a cannons grapeshot, quick to fire and the stand and shoot lets you re roll the artillery dice for the number of shots

    It's all good.
    I'm going to try running 4 solo's (2 salamanders and 2 razordons).

Salamanders went from being over powered to being merely powerful.

Razordons went from being crappy to good.

I'd say they are equally good now, point for point. They do different things. Salamanders are a good tool for taking chunks out of giant units of fairly weak infantry. Razordons are good for taking out fast mobile troops. They can also run interference while taking pot shots at long range. Either can be a cheap cannon ball blocker but Razordons are cheaper so they are better at taking one for the team

I'm still interested to know why folks think razordons are good now, all they did was knock a few points off them, they still have the problems of shots that roll to hit on a poor BS value.

Salamanders are great against infantry, especially hordes, razordons are equally bad against everything, and worse than useless against Skirmishers.

An interesting comparison is the razordon with extra handler, to a unit of 10 skink skirmishers for the same points cost.

    Rare versus Core
    Move 6" + shoot 18" versus March 12" + shoot 12"
    S4 versus S3 poisoned
    0-10 shots versus 10 shots

There's a bunch of other factors to consider, but the last one is pretty big, you have to admit. Now, I have three of the spiny critters all nicely painted up, and I want to use them. I'm hoping someone will point me to what I'm missing here in terms of what they have to offer.

I think razors have several small buffs in the new book:

    - 10 points cheaper (whilst sallies got more expensive)
    - monstrous beasts (S5 stomp, also I didn't realise before now but I believe they have swiftstride)
    - better shooting attack (more streamlined at any rate, also no chance of 1 misfire stopping the whole unit shooting)
    - The existence of Hand of Glory

They are by no means an auto-pick but Im planning to use them as bodyguards for my stegs/carnos. They can body-block cannonballs, plink away at chaff, don't mind taking a charge so my big fellas can counter-charge, and aren't slouches in the following combat.

Them being monsterous now makes them great against other low ws monster that rely on the thunderstomp to do their damage as they cant be stomped and usually chuck out an equal amount of attacks at simular strength. That said I always go for sallys, I have 6 because overall they have a better chance of inflicting good damage on infantry blocks and only have to kill 1 guy to cause panic still so great on the flanks where generals and bsb's dont tend to hang out. The -3 armour save was overkill against most armies but the S4 now makes the damage output better against T4 armies.

Its all about who and what you fight regularly I suppose and how you like to play

Skinks cant fight for one, they arent singlemodel which is neat for a blocker since it makes it way more maneuverable, they dont cause fear (which removes terror run-downs) they arent monsterous beasts which means they can be stomped...+ their range IS shorter if you find a place on the table where you dont wanna move to shoot from.

Salamanders are all the way, they became even stronger with s4 now theyre block busters.
Razordons were and are crap, dont see why i should use them because skink to the job better for me. razordons maks 10 shots skinks maks 20 shot and with poison thets awsome.
Razordonshadto be CC monstersbecausewedontlack low s shooting.
pointdrop didntmake them goodit make them alittle bid les sucky but dont forget that now we roll only1 dice on stand and shootso in other words they got nerfed too...
