Hello all, in the FAQ it clearly states that rerolls happen before any modifiers. Here's an example of how this works: A unit has +5 save and gets a reroll failed saves buff from a nearby unit. The unit gets attacked by an attack with a -1 rend profile. If you roll a save-roll of 5, you are not allowed to re-roll the save (since modifiers arn't in place yet) resulting in a failed save when the rend modifier kicks in. My questions is, do you play it this way? Am I part of a small group who play the game wrong or this like measuring from the model; it's in the rules but no-one follows it? Anyone I have ever played with apply the modifiers first and sort out rerolls after (apart from specific abilities like reroll on 1s).
This is exactly how it works. This is why rend is REALLY POWERFUL but unfortunately 90% of the community doesn't seem to have realised yet ! * I forgot it myself at some games *
I've never rerolled before modifiers. Its much easier to modify first, guess that's why we tend to ignore it.
All kinds of debuffs get more powerful when rerolls are involved. -1 to hit cause your to-hit rerolls to faulter in the same way as rend would do to a save reroll. It is potentially game changing.
Rerolls first then the modifiers is the right way to play, even if most people dont do it. But lucky as we are, the skinks priest is worded with reroll saves and not reroll failed saves. But you have to be aware that the astro reroll is just on failed rolls.
hmm.. The way i see it, and we play it is that the rend of -1 and the buff for the save of +1 kicks in at the same time, why shouldnt the rend and save buff/debuff work like this? The other way around you the rend value makes ur opponent miss a save, with a "invalid" reroll ability ?
Yeah i see that... but if u make the 5 up save with rend 1 lets say on a 6, u would never get to use ur reroll then? When will the reroll be allowed in that scenario ?
If you needed say a 5 to save and your opponent has +1 rend, you roll a 6 then apply the modifier so 5 save passed, you would not use the reroll it gets lost, so your right you would not use it.
