So, last night I had my revenge vs the brets. 2 Weeks ago I had recieved a massacre, because I wasn't paying enough attention. (report is here: http://www.lustria-online.com/threads/1250-vs-brettonians.3301/ )
So, it was a bit of a grudge match.
It was a battle with 1250 points of troops.
    The army lists:
    Scar-Vet-CO-LA-Sh (general)
    Scar-Vet-CO-LA-BSB-ES-BBoC

15 Saurus warriors, spears, standard, musician (BSB)
    15 saurus warriors, spears, musician
    10 skirmishers
    10 skirmishers
    10 skinks
    11/1 Skrox, musician

    7 chameleon skinks
    4 terradons

    1 Salamander

So, my list included a Skrox unit. And i dropped the magic items on my general and a handfull of saurri in order to buy it. A fair traide, IMO.

    His list:
General, horse and stuff, grail vow
Paladin, BSB, virtue of duty, horse and stuff

    8 KotR, FC (BSB)
    8 KE, FC

    6 Pegasus knights

    5 Grail knights (general)

Only 4 units. But each of them packs quite the punch!
We had a big forest and a big hill take the center of the battlefield.

    From left to right deployment:
KE, Grails, big gap, pegasi and KotR. (split deployment, only the pegasi can sweep. The hill made it even more into a split battle)

10 skirmishers, Skrox, 10 skinks with general behind (on his own), Salamander, chameleons scouted in the woods, skink skirmishers, BSB+Saurii, Saurii.

The plan: delay the left flank and get half points for his grails or his errants. Destroy the right flank!

The first 2 turns were shuffling for position.
1: I started, and moved my units up conservatively. The salamander and cohort moved straight to the hill, so they have cover and can choose which side they will go to support.
his first turn: sweep Grails and errants over to left flank, near table edge. They were behind eachother. PK and KOTR move up.

    Turn 2:
Terradons fly next to the knight-train. Marchblocking them both and playing right into my hands.
salamander goes towards left. The rest of teh units make sure they are out of charge range.
The right flank inches back, I think i am out of charge range now.

His turn 2: He charges his PK and KotR in the saurii without BSB. Only to find out they are both out of range! His KotR by 1 1/2 inch, and his PK by 0.5"! It was hard to guess the range, as it was a completely open space (no reference points). But he got it all wrong (I got it right) and he was in trouble.
    Turn 3:
My saurii charge his PK, my BSB leads his troops into stupidity! and thus cannot charge :p
My left flank: Terradons drop rocks on grails and march block both units. I kill 3 grail knights!
Other shooting does squat, and I remain out of charge range.
I win the fight against the PK, but they hold. general moves over to right flank.
    his turn 3:
Charge KotR into my stupid Saurii. Move KE over for better positioning. Grails try and sweep to the other side...not that easy with only 8" of movement!
KotR kill 2 Saurii, I kill his champion in a challenge and another knight. I hold. The PK vs Saurii is again won by me (and again I do 2 wounds) but he holds, again.

    Turn 4:
Terradons, Sala, skinks, skirmishers and skrox all move to be out of charge range from his KE (or out of LOS). Grails are still march-blocked. skirmishers on my right and the chameleons sweep over to make sure they crossfire his fleeing units. (his PK are dead if they land ON TOP of an enemy unit. So my chameleons form a long line in the fleeing-corridor!)
    General charges into KotR combat.
In the PK vs Saurri combat; he fails to deliver (only 1 wound!) and i retaliate with a fury: killing 3 pegasus knights outright! Yes, that's 6 wounds! He loses (BIG) but his champion holds on snake eyes
Saurrii+BSB+General kill 2 knights. And he does nothing. Amazingly, he holds.
    his turn 4:
he tries charging KE into my skrox, but are out of range. He then gives up. His pegasus knights+KotR+BSB are pretty much dead. I already have half points for his grail knights, and his knights errant have yet to do anything. And will likely never see combat. The grails are already running away from my left flank, as all the supporting units will make mince-meat out of them.

    Result:
    Massacre!

He out-played by my large number of units. And he missed his charges, resulting in a big win for me.
My left flank was so heavily supported, that I could do whatever I want (redirect, march block...shoot etc..)
While he could crawl on with only 8".
He wanted his KE to charge into my Skrox (as it looked like a 'block'). And I made use of that knowledge-> by moving the Skrox back.
The right flank was easy after he missed his charges.
And yes, my general failed stupidity in the first turn; Again! (he always does that :p)

    Thanks for reading, C&C appreciated.

Good job, only thing I could have sugested to make you army a tad more effective would be remove the Skrox unit and just throw in 3-4 kroxigors. They due great agains Brets. Congrats on the win.

    Thanks for the reply,

    And about the list:
Skrox are not ideal vs Brets (or lots of knights [and horses!] in particular). But, I have used Kroxigors. But whenever I use them; my dice fail.
And: I do not have the models available, so have to proxy. -> proxying a unit of kroxes (when you only have dwarves, skinks and saurii) is hard and waay less fun than putting dwarves inside skinks.
And: I made a pledge, never to use Kroxes again untill (minimal) July...

    :p Hence: NO KROXES!

    The match went well though!

Ah I see, well use what ya have I suppose. If your looking for cheap ones, look up the Lizardmen tyrants at Reaper miniatures. A lot cheaper, if you like the look of them, some don't I love them. Anyhoo keep squishing thoses warm-bloods :)
