ok this is my magic heavy Lizardman list that i decided to go with Slann Mage-Priest= 275 points Divine Plaque of Protection, 3 DoAs, Itixi Grubs= 155 points Skink Priest= 65 points Lvl 2, EotG= 325 points Skink Priest= 65 points Lvl 2, Itixi Grubs, Plaque of Tepok= 75 points Chakax= 335 points 15 Saurus Warriors= 165 points full command, spears= 45 points 15 Saurus Warriors= 165 points full command, spears= 45 points 10 Skink Skirmishers= 70 points 1 brave, Jav+Shields= 16 points 10 Temple Guard= 160 points full command= 35 points this comes out to 2996 points total. any questions or comments are welcome, and my basic plan with this army is to try and hold the enemy at bay while i pummel them with magic missiles.
I hope you mean 1996, because if not, something is wrong.... overall looks nice, though i recommend a total of 16 tg's
I'd definitely put that Plaque of Tepok on your EotG. The EotG Skink Priest gets 3 power dice and can use 4 power dice per spell. This gives you a much better casting ability than the other Skink Priest with 2 power dice and can use only 3 power dice per spell. With 3 spells and only 2 power dice (2 more if you are leeching from the general army.. but shouldnt that be your slann's job?) your casting range is limited. Plus you have the bonus of the EotG skink priest having Large Target line of site. This means you can see the entire board and when you engage in close combat with your Steggy, you can still see over the enemy to cast your damaging spells. Also, you cant have Ixti Grubs and Plaque of Topek on the same character. They are both Arcane items.
...And the same goes for power stones. Some things about the list... What do you want the divine plaque of protection for? I mean, the slann must be inside the temple guard, and he has the "look out sir" rule, which is like a 2+ ward save against ranged attacks, so... What you have to protect the slann is against miscast, and for that the perfect magic item for a slann is the "cupped hands of the old ones". Gor-Rok is cheaper and a much better character than Chacax (but IMO lizardmen special characters aren't good enough for what they cost); instead of Chacax i would get another EotG and one or two more units of skirmishers
i agree with dropping chakax i would replace him with a JSoD it is very likely to go off in this list and i would give your priest on foot the cloak of feathers this will give you more range for his spells and make the slanns magic missles a little more dangerous i also agree that the plaque of tepok should be on the EotG and i also agree with the cupped hands of the old ones since this will keep your high point slann alive a lot longer if you miscast and has the added benfit of taking out an enemy caster and i also agree that 5-6 more temple guard would really help that unit since it would give them full ranks
