It's just something that dawned on me when I was reading about the Ring of Hotek, and compared it to Tetto'eko. The Ring of Hotek causes miscasts on any double, 12' near the model wearing it. Tette'eko's Herald of Cosmic Events makes any successful spellcast with doubles in it irresistible force, provided it is not a double 1. Which one would take preference? If Tette'eko's Herald of Cosmic Events was rolled successfully, and you then cast a spell on a wearer of the Ring of Hotek, and you rolled double 3; would this be a spell cast with irresistible force or a miscast?
Well, not quite sure for this particular situation, but if you naturally roll both a double 1 and a double 6 when casting the miscast takes precedence. So if you interpreted it to be that when doubles are rolled, say two 3s, they turn into two 6s or two 1s (rather than just "causing a miscast/IF"), then the miscast would overrule the IF. Hope this helps
well this ocured to me as well, ass long as this is not double 6 and 1 the miscast shouldint tae over. when i played WoC he casted a spell where my doubles were miscast and my tetto eko did a sucsesfully Herald of Cosmic Events. in my club we desided that we roll a d6 and on 4+ its IF on 3- its miscast. but now i dont bother becouse its remains in play spell so i dispell it with ring of chotec realy dont know what to do. it should be errata for this.
iirc ring of hotek only applies to targetted spells, so you can still throw comets as you like. other than that, afaik you need to 4+ it each time.
One of those things that GW hasn't described. They seem to lean toward the two abilities just cancelling each other out (like cold blooded vs something that rolls 3d6 pick the lowest two) however, I think a dice off would be the fair way to do it. Not sure on the exact wording of the ring, walach, but even if that is the case remember if tetto is within 12" of the ring when he tries to cast, it still works. Any cast originating from 12", or targetting within 12".
