I saw this army on eBay with a guy who claims his army always wins. The points are little ridiculous at 2,500+, but still there is something I saw that I wanted to try, which is multiple cav big blocks. Here is the link to the army that was sold... http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dl..._nkw=250592876711&_fvi=1&_rdc=1#ht_617wt_1165 Anyway, what is the feasibility of running multiple units of cav that are 10 strong. If you ran the Horn of Kygor as well and got them stubborn, and protected them from war machines with the EoTG bubble I can see that being quite a deadly force. My only major fear would be failing a stupidity test and screwing yourself over. Any thoughts?
certainly i highly doubt that exact army has played multiple tournaments and never lost, and i dont care much for the red sarus/skinks on green mounts.... anyway, personally i've tried it and it can work. a failed stupidity early on can really cripple you, though the chances of this are fairly rare. one of the major plus points is that if you get across the board relatively unscathed, assuming you win the combat you stand a good chance of outnumbering them, which against a lot of enemies, reduces them to double 1s for break tests. i wouldnt bother with the horn, its expensive and only increases the ability to stay in combat; frankly with this army you need to kill them on the charge anyway, being stubborn isnt going to matter.
Yeah I completly agree with Walach, this army would be smashed by a player with half a brain and a decent list. If this list has been undefeated in multiple tournament then it must've been small tournament with very inexperienced players. Pretty clear he just wanted to sell the army and "this is a gimick crap army, but looks kinda cool!" doesnt sell models. Every unit of 10 COCs are about 400 VPs, 500 if broken in combat, anything that shoots will pick the army apart in no time. He also claims its ITP which is completly wrong, they can still panic pretty easily (LD 8, no rerolls, not fantastic even with Cold Blood). Cool idea but not a tournament winner.
Well correct me if I'm wrong here but according to the rulebook(pg52) units that are stupid are also immune to psychology. But regardless that army is a one trick pony and I don't see it being tactically flexible. Not to mention severely lacking magic defense
If they were iItP, I think you would only ItP when you fail the stupidity test until the start of the next turn, but before so you are just normal.
true. i got confused by this myself. a unit that suffers from stupidity is not stupid. a uniy is only stupid when it fails its stupidity test, then it becaomes ITP
