First off, I would like to thank people for their help with my army list and for this wonderful site. And now on to my questions. 1) Are the Sacred Spawning Armies worth it? Such as making a Sacred Host of Sotek? 2) Are they still legal in tournament use or would I have to have 2 seperate army set-ups for this, one for friendly play and one for tournaments? 3) If they are worth it, what army seems best to do? I like the look of Sotek and Tepok so far, as I like both of the Lores of Magic that the Skink Priests get.
1)I've used the Sotek army before with some success and I've wanted to try the Quetzl one. However your skinks will become a little more expessive which is not always a great thing. But its always fun to play with. 2)I believe it is but not 100% sure, I'm sure someone here knows for sure. 3)I personally have found it useful for when I want saurus warriors with marks but don't want to have them as special units to do so. So that I can still have Krox, SCoR or Terradons. Or also if I needed skinks with different spells as needed for the opponents I was facing. Also its fun for fluff reasons.
1. I'd have to say that it being "worth it" is all up to you and your style of play. For the most part the difference seems to primarily be fluff, but it will slightly alter the way the army is played. So if you want to make a sacred host, try it and see how it goes. Just know that so far as i can tell Army Builder doesn't allow it so if you're using that program, try to leave enough points to manually add your spawnings on all of your units. 2. According to the first page of the pdf that GW put out on the sacred hosts, the rules are official, meaning they should be legal to play. Having said that, that's about the only reference I have to it, so if I'm wrong then I'm wrong. 3. Again, which are worth it will all depend on your style of play and the fluff you want to go with it. I've thought about making a sacred host of Tzunki on more than one occasion, imagining an entire aquatic army that attacks straight out of a river or the ocean. Now on most gaming tables, this idea is unfeasable at best and probably never going to see play in the way I described, but if I could, I think it'd be a blast to try out. So if you think a sacred host looks worth it, try it out (proxy it if you need to, just make sure your opponent is willing) and see if it works for you. At worst, you'll know better and can move on from there. And at best you'll have found an army you like to run, which is the whole point of this anyway.
