I've seen it said a couple times on the board that Salamanders can now march and shoot. I've been going through my rule book and the Army book and cannot find the set of rules that allow them to do so. Would some one be so kind as to spell it out for me? Thanks.
I thought that the entry in the Lizardmen book saying specifically that they cannot march and shoot overides that?
I have the book in my hand and that entry is only for Razordons, there is no mention of it in the section for Salamanders.
indeed, it was the old FAQ that specified that salamanders don't have a breath weapon and thus can't shoot after they march. it's not a problem anymore
I believe the main rulebook also labels salamanders as warbeasts which would give them the swiftstride rule. Not sure if they can use it because the skinks probably can't run swiftly with them but it may be useful for getting away from combat if the skinks are all gone.
The Salamander can move swiftly, because the Skink-handlers (as in the monster & handler rule) are not much more than counters, so it doesn't matter what movement they have. They are only there for shooting (or rather, being shot at) and giving the Salamander more attacks in cc.
And more importantly, a 5+ save with 3 charges per Salamander. 4 charges if you pay the extra 5pts. Cheers!
He is suggesting that when randomising hits the Skinks will take a wound hat would of gone to the Salamander/Razordon on a 5 or 6... which is effectively like giving the monsters a 5+ Ward Save (3 or 4 times if you buy the extra Skink Handler).
