Hi I want to know if salamenders are good only in a mix with skinks or are they good with a saurus army too(since 2 sallamenders are equal to 14 saurus warriors)
No matter what army I build, at least 1 unit of slamander go in it. Usually I run 2 units of 2 slamanders each. Their flame attacks can be used in so many situations and if your opponent has played against them, he'll be cautious of them and work around them leaving things open for you.. or if he hasn't played against them, be prepared for a flame-fest (errr.. unless your salies get hungry )
Oh yea, Salamanders are DEFINITELY worth all of their points. I always use them, and they always help me, they are the only unit I can think of that can reliably take down multiple chaos warriors every tun. Actually I think they kill off more chaos warriors than my saurus do. Saurus to me are more of an anvil unit, they can hold other units in place for a good amount of time, but they do not really kill too much (without magic).
Hell yeah! Salamanders are awesome! Take a pair of them, keep them in separate units, and use them to flank the enemy. Then light em' up
Well, I personally prefer the flank; I get more potential hits and the target won't be able to charge me, as I am out of his line of sight. But really, any place is fine as long as they can do lots of damage to the enemy.
On a recent game of my lizardmen vs wood elves, I set up 1 unit of 2 salies on both my flanks with my skrox and saurus in center. Behind right flank salies, I had slann in TG. Slann was in range of skrox for buffs. This setup worked very well against a very fast wood elf calvary. The salies covered flanks and melted his cavalry while skrox and saurus handled his other units.
