i was thinking of converting a TG into a awesome looking wizard putting him on an alter of war and using him as a stand in slann? any feedbacks and advice is welcome. i will start work on it soon
My first impression is that you want to save money, which is a reason that rarely leads to good looking results. I love the originall Slann model, its just too good looking model to skip imo, but done right i guess it could look pretty decent. Fluff-wise its an abomination, a super skink priest-mage would be more in line with the fluff, but Im not really bothered by that. If you're gonna do it then make sure you make him stand out, not just a saurus on a scratch built altar with a staff, make him flashy enought and I guess it could work. My biggest problem with it is that its just gonna look like a unit filler if you play him with TGs.
If I'm honest, even though I really love the slann model it just seems out of place to me, we have a whole lotta lizards everywhere and a toad. So I also thought, at one point, it would be awesome to make a lizard mage sort of like this http://media.photobucket.com/image/...pomorphic/RCW06170-soriboldvasklizardmage.jpg But until I get a lot of converting practice in, doing some smaller stuff, I won't be attempting it as it could really easily turn out to be an abomination unto mankind.
Yeah it doesn't fit the fluff at all. Saurus do not use magic, only skinks and Slann do so I agree if anything a skink would do a better job. But this is a creative hobby so you are free to make your own conversion and fluff for why a saurus is using magic, the most important thing is that he is on the right sized base (50mm) and your opponent knows what he is. Also one thing to be wary of, don't end up with a big scary looking lizard all claws, sharp teeth and bristling muscles that only has a single s3 attack in the rules. You need to make him look like a magic user, like he can't fight.
well guys, you were right i was trying to save money, however i gotz me a slann as a surprise gift soooo, my lizzies are finally complete and there is no need for the conversion any longer. Thanks for the advice though. now i just added a few armour plates and a sharp halberd to the saurri priest and he is a revered guardian now.
