SO 25% of my army can be lords, and because I have always believed in more lords than heroes I don't plan to take an heroes in my army but if you have an alternate plan let me know. I plan to be facing Ogres and Orcs and Goblins

    Saurus Oldblood
    Light armor
    Shield
    Piranha blade
    Bane's head
    Glyph's Necklace

Is this a viable/effective? I figure with 5 str 5 attacks I should be able to get a few hits off, which I am pretty sure Ogres and Orcs have a lot of wounds. With this build hopefully I can make mince meat of anything in a challenge
If here is a better build for a 1k game please let me know and post what you would give him instead

I would say that you would get a better performance with:

    Oldblood
    Piranha Blade
    Gambler's armour
    Glyph necklace
    The Other Tricksters Shard

This build gives you a 1+ armor save (fails on a 1, but when taking in greater strength attacks and the armor modifiers that opponents like Ogres are going to have, you can use the buffer). Also, the other trickster shard will be helpful in making your opponents re-roll successful ward saves.

In that build should I include a shield?

No, as that would put you 1 point over the 250 pt limit on your lords.

Are there any other builds which would use a great weapon which I would get better performace out of or do you think that your build will be optimal?

There is no single optimal Old Blood build as your plans for the OB and the army your opponent will be bringing both affect what is best/most cost effective.

Some builds can be hard to kill, others maximise damage given out either by maximising number of attacks or by making each attack more deadly.

If you are using a GW then consider using the venom to make it magical and poisonous.

Would the Armor f Destiny be better than the Gambler's armor and the Glyph Necklace? (copy of the BRB is not w/ me at the moment but) I think i would save 10 points by switching the Glyph necklace and Gambler's armor for the Armor of Destiny and adding a shield. I would also improve my ward save by 1 making it 4+ and I would still have the 1+ armor save right? (and a parry?)

you typically only get the parry save with a shield a a regular hand weapon.

But wouldnt the Armour of Destiny and a shield give me the same Armor save and a better War Save than the Gambler's armor and the Glyph Necklace? and for less points?

    So what About this build?

    Oldblood
    Great Weapon
    Venom of the Firefly Frog
    Armor of Destiny
    Other Trickster's Shard

How would this build work? pretty nice armor save and a 4+ward is nothing to laugh at along with 5 s7 poisoned magical attacks and forcing re-roll on successful ward saves seems like a pretty devastating combo

I'm actually playing a 1000 point tourney in a couple weeks. I'm also taking an Oldblood :)
I thought up a couple lists, and I actually only had 50 points of magic items to work with. Here's my build and a couple others that I thought up: (note, all of these come to 195 points)

Oldblood – Enchanted Shield, Dawnstone, Light armour
So this has a 1+ rerollable armour save. I figured it could take pretty much anything but a cannon to the face, but that's what lookout sir and my units are there to help with.

Oldblood - Fencers Blades, Potion of Speed, LA
This one has Initiave 7 (one turn), WS10, 6 attacks, and a 3+ armour save. This one is more killy than the other one, but a 3+ armour save isn't anything to smirk at either.

Oldblood - Sword of Strife, LA – 7 Attacks, 3+ armour save
This build has 7 attacks, so perhaps the most potential for kills (a rank-and-file killer) but wouldn't stand up to other combat lords and heroes as much as the other one.

I could only do the 195 points on my Oldblood cause of point restrictions as I'm also taking some magic defense, but I hope that I gave you some good ideas
