    G'day, welcome to Lustria! :)

Conversions are really about expressing your own personal thought on the unit, how do you see saurus different in your head than on the table? I personally think they are a little static, so I have made my front rank more like they are jumping into battle, while I've seen some that change the head or weapons or shields.

As to painting, well there is tonnes and tonnes of info on the net, some really great tutorials about. Brushthralls is a good one. The best way to get constructive advice here is to paint a model, take a few photos and post them, then we can see what you have done and give advice on how to improve it.

A few really quick tips that most new players overlook; always always water down your paints. Yes, you will need to put 2 or maybe even 3 layers on, but multiple thin layers looks so much better than one thick layer. Don't be afraid to make mistakes and fix them up later, it is actually hard to ruin a model especially during painting since you can just strip it back even if it gets flooded.

Feel free to ask more specific questions, but as you can imagine 'hi I'm new, how do I paint and convert?' could pretty much be an entire book and covers such a massive area.
