Increased movement, extra attacks from the cold one, just to name a couple off the top of my head.

In my opinion it is the best delivery system for a very reasonably priced hero in the current Lizardmen book.
The +2 on Asv from CO is nice and the CO attack is ok, but to me it is about the best way to get that sucker into combat of my choice...Unfortunately we cannot make our Scar-vets fly:(

Gone are the days of Nike boots Scarvets with GW streaking across the board to dish out the pain...Ah I miss miss that build for Scar-vet. That was sneaky and effective and inexpensive:D Loved Charm of the Jaguar warrior...

Steed of shadows not useable to charge was a sad surprise when I returned to the game a couple of months ago.

I suppose in that trend our Totem of the Huanchi's time is limited too...

true on both points, so the real question then is what to kit him out with do you go like a GW and true to take out mages ect, or go Def and try to delay a horde/unit for afew turns..?

The way I see it he can take on a wide variety of units...but obviously bear in mind unless you are sporting Crown of command he might lose to static CR, I would aim at small units (chaff), monsters, MI, MC etc.

Depending what lore your slann is running as well, with Light you can take on big blocks Light of battle means auto pass break test:)

Literally my favourite thing in the world

Held up a whole (poorly organised) warriors army with just a scar vet in a cold one and light of battle, charged him into a 50 man horde of marauders, phas, speed of light and light of battle turn one to avoid their high strength weapons, then once they were back to strength 3, could not get through toughness 5 with a one up rerollable save! His units were stacked up so couldn't reform properly and the scar vet never broke, moved the rest my army onto the flank and that's all she wrote

The great thing is that the character can be strong both offensively and defensively at the same time.

The weakness is that a unit of Cold One Cavalry is the only unit that can give him a look-out-sir roll, so he can be cannon-sniped unless you happen to be running Cavalry.

if I know terradons or camos wont be effective, i'll kit up a WM hunter SV on CO. i usually keep him on foot with another 1 or 2 and flush out a command group so my slann in the saurii can sit 2nd rank.

Charmed shield, talisman of preservation, or armor of destiny, Any of these three are great on a scar vet anyways, and if they are shooting your scar vet, then they arent shooting your stegadon or slann.
