So my question is would a scar vet like this be viable and what use would you put him to in your list? Scar vet 85pnts Horned one 35pnts or possibly 55pnts??? light armor 5pnts halberd 4pnts venom of the fire fly frog 10pnts So my 2 questions are would this be an effective build if im correct he would have a 1+ sv at t5 and 6 srt6 attacks on the charge My second question concerns the "horned one" dose he count towards your 50pnts of magical items and also do you combine his cost with cost of a regular cold one or do you just pay for one or the other?? Im still really new to fantasy so any and all comments are appreciated.
Horned one only costs 35 points. It doesn't count towards magical items (but only heroes can take it). I only count 2+ armor. Not sure why you would have 6 Str 6 attacks. You would have 4 Str 6 attacks (regardless of being on the charge or not). The Horned One would add 1 Str 4 attack at Weapon Skill 3. You could throw him in a block of Saurus, for an added punch. Cavalry works as well, but he may not be offensive enough to warrant that.
Ok that clears up alot thanks. With the armor he has your right now that i got my codex back all the things your saying our right lol i was trying to do that off the top of my head. Scaly skin 5+ Light armor 4+ Mount 2+ Shield 1+ So now that i have the codex in front of me i was thinking this might be a little better and keep in mind he is going to be used against a skaven opponent i play. 175pnts Scar vet 85pnts Horned one 35pnts Sword of battle 20pnts Maiming shield 30pnts light armor 5pnts 7 str5 attacks on the charge + 1 mount ws3str4 atk with a 1+ save
I'd put that build in a cavalry group! In this case your unit would still have stupidity though, so there would be no need for the horned one Never played Skaven, so not sure if this is effective however. Pretty sure they play huuuge blocks. Your going to want: 1) your own anvils (maybe crown of command for this purpose) 2) War Machine hunters (Chameleons and/or Terradons) 3) Monster Hunters? Scar-vets can do this roll quite well too Best of luck!
Cool i think that' what i am going to do ill drop the horned one for a CO and just put him with some COC. Thanks for the responses .
I thought it did count towards your magical item limit, it just didn't count as a magic item. Was there some ruling I wasn't aware of?
http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1260025a_FAQ_Lizardmen_2010.pdf Not a magical item, only a mount choice. I could be wrong though!
That could be interpreted as meaning that Horned Ones just aren't affected by things that nullify, steal, or destroy magical items but it would till take up 35 points of the magical item slot, be limited to one per roster, and count as an enchanted item for list building purposes. Or it could count just like the other mounts, not taking up a magical item slot and not be limited to one per army. If that's the case I'm likely to try a kitbash to make a priest on a horned one.
Yeah, I swear I've read online that they don't count towards magic item points allowance anymore.. That they were just a mount option for heroes (still limited to one per army however like an enchanted item).. But I can't find a source other than what I linked. And Priest on a Horned One is an awesome idea! Level 2 Plaque of Tepoq, Dispell scroll, and a Horned One.. Movement 8 is pretty good, and gives priest some armor! Might try this just for fun. Rocket out of a skirmishing bunker
Do we have any Solid Confirmation on this whole Horned One counting as a Unique Mount instead of Magic Item thing? Because if it is... Hell Yeah Priest Mount. =P Love the Idea. Also... Does anyone else think our Cold Ones looks like they have a Mental Handicap when compared to Dark Elf Cold Ones? Theirs look so angry in comparison. Thoughts on both?
The Lizardmen Official Update says it's only a cavalry mount, so "Hell Yeah Priest Mount." See the 4th question from the bottom on the right side of page 3 http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m1260025a_FAQ_Lizardmen_2010.pdf If you can your hands on the old Inxi-Huinzi model, it's perfect for skink characters on a horned one. Easy to mod into a priest as well. And yah, our cold ones are lacking at best.
I converted my old Inxi Huinzi into a terradon rider chief. Still have the horned one sitting around! My biggest problem with it is the tail. This model doesn't fit very well with the new cold ones, so I always have it on the side or back rank to the side.
