So, probably the first worthwhile item on the digital editions advent calendar drops on the second to last day. Somewhat overpriced for what you get, but we can now field Bastiladons, troglodons and Ripperdactyl and Terradon units as part of our monsters and magic allowance in Storm of magic games (which lets be honest, don't come up all that often). The compendium also contains scrolls for the ogre kingdoms monsters: thunder tusks, stone horns and Mournefangs, and the beastmen Jabbersslythe, plus the FW great cave squig. Getting the useful parts of their trog for 30pts less still makes it look a little overpriced, but the Bastiladon looks like a steal for 2/3 the cost in the book (without either of the engines obviously).
Technically Storm of Magic is regular Warhammer. It is just a scenario like the six in the IoB rule book. I just has a few more scenario specific rules than the rest. If you're looking for a way to make such monsters more useful, use the monsters allowance and not the extra magic rules (this is what Monstrous Arcanum does).
