Hey guys, So I was thinking that my list lacks of a 2nd huge threat the other day and while trying to figure out how to make a 2nd one, I thought : Why not start a thread about it ? So, what threats do your lists use ? For example, the biggest of all my lists ( well got to admit that the base was created model wise and not pure strength wise ) is the 40man Warrior blob on a Sunclaw. I would prefer discussing about serious threats here, not some good units that can deal some damage. Units that will cripple the opponent hard if their combo gets to work and on the other hand, units that if lost or crippled before put into work, hurt a lot - almost too much. Would be cool if you 'd also share the thinking around it and how it works. Obviously it's an all comers list discussion so no matter which batallion you use, share your wisdom if you feel like it !
I feel like one of the biggest threat in my army is the Bastiladon, especially when combined with my Astrolith bearer. Shooting 2D6 rerollable hits can do some serious dmg, and the basti can hold his ground very well in melee. But the real threat is his tankiness, especially with a mystic shield on him, giving him 2+ saves and 4+ mortal wound save and completely ignoring rend. Your opponnent has a big decision to make: Do I keep ignoring this shooting threat, slowly chipping at my forces, or do I deal with it? But to deal with it, your opponnent must invest quite a lot as it's health pool combined with it's defense is just huge. One of my recent opponent wasted a complete shooting phase with 6 Kurnoth hunters and a Treelord trying to kill this bastiladon on 4 health. That's alot of wounds absorbed that the rest of my forces didn't suffer. Also, the fact that we can teleport this beast around means that it can never be irrelevant. Objective on the left side has been secured, and now we're having trouble on the right side? let's teleport this badboy in, bringing with him this constant dilemma. It is usually always a win-win situation for me, and I just love the model all the more for it P.S.: I love you too, oh my sweet, sweet Astrolith Bearer
May not be a "serious threat" but I found using a Stegadon for the first time, teleporting in, moving d6 and then charging into elites with -3 rend was very good when we lack MW output!
Nice one, to be honest the more games I play the more I feel the importance of having 1 high rend threat. I m list building with a Steggy included for quite sometime now, I m gonna soon put it into work
It can target its ability to itself ! It has the skink keyword after all, exactly as bastiladon does !
Yeah I've always deferred to carnosaurs and bastiladons in the past but the Stegadon definitely has a place especially with teleporting now
