I'm planning on taking a Shadow Slann for a game this weekend and I was just wondering, has anyone successfully overly abused the potential of Smoke and Mirrors? Like say if you had a Shadow Slann, a Skink Priest w/Cloak of Feathers, and a kitted out killy SV or two... Fly to an enemy flank with skink, cast Iceshard with skink, cast Withering with slann, swap with skink, cast Pendulum with slann, swap with skink, move skink with Steed, possibly swap your slann with a SV if you need to. Or you could do all that but ignore casting Iceshard to save some dice. Or do all that, but swap with a SV at the end, then use Steed to move the Slann out of harm's way if needed. Or do all that but put 2 SV's on the same enemy flank using Steed. Granted this would require boatloads of dice and some lucky rolling (and no dispels). Maybe take a skink with the Forbidden Rod to help out. Even if you could get only 2 spells off with your slann, you could still get some pretty fun shenanigans going using 3 characters.
i love this build, and used it quite often. I like it better in 3k games. I used an oldblood with the blade of realities. Great for taking out hellcannons, hydras, and the like. Play with it, it is really fun.
Well I got it to work in a half-arsed sort of way. My Slann almost got abandoned after attempting Pendulum (which was dispelled) but got away by the skin of his teeth with Steed and a swap with a Scar-Vet. You definitely need some balls to commit to this tactic.
