Just had a game last night, it inspired me to write this. I'm not sure if there's a similar thread somewhere on the board though.

Anyway, I had my first game vs dwarfs last night. It was against a friend of mine and it was his first game with them. So I figured, why the hell not go sort of full retard against an army that is known for their heavy usage of artillery?

My army consisted of 2 Skrox units (3 and 4 krox), 2 regular stegadons and 2 ancient, along with a horde templeguard unit, a slann and scar vet BSB. It was in no way inteneded to be competitive, I just wanted to see how bad it would go.

Fair enough, my friend starts. Nothing bad happens. Next turn he one-shots a regular steg with a canon ball. Expected.
I reach his hammer unit with lord with the "little" skrox unit and this is where sh*t is about to hit the fan:

My skrox units get completely smashed, overruned and his hammer unit charges into an ancient steg, kills it in the following round of combat, charges the next ancient steg who just happend to be placed several inches behind it. So I'm now down to two stegs, with one of them already being charged.

Meanwhile my slann (in TG) decides to miscast TWICE with 3 dices. I looked it up and there is something like 7-8% for that happening. And it happened twice in a row. But it didn't stop there, no no, I actually miscasted a third time, however this time he was downgraded to a level 2 wizad. Needless to say I had blown about 15/38 TGs due to miscasts. I then finally get within charge range of his damn GW dwards (core units) which is a horde. With the banner of swiftness I had a total of 9" inches to reach him which meant that I could only fail by rolling snakes eyes or a 1 and a 2. I rolled a 1 and a 2. So I welcomed another round of focused artillery shooting, since they had nothing better to do. When my TG "horde" finally decided to reach the front they were down to 10 models.

I dunno, but that was most likely the most fun game my friend and I have had throughout all our games, because the amount of bad luck we both suffered from the entire game was just plain hilarious.

    SO, what are your story/ies?

Got many...must be the table I play on:)

3 games in a row my regular OnG opponent squabbles with his big savage orc block (with 4 characters) and rolls a 6 every time thus spoiling my battle plan because he first gets a free march, then gets to declare a charge nullifying my combo charges I set up.

Two weeks ago he IF's a the small waagh vortex after choosing Initiative and sends it onto my 35 strong saurus block...out of 35 rolls I only 2 models survive...MOAR ones please:)

Funniest one I ever saw was Archaon rolling 9 1's to hit and promptly killed himself.

    With my dwarves, 2000pt game:
Quarreler unit of 12 men stand and shoot against 6 chaos knights, kill 5 and the last runs off the board
Then get flanked by a juggernaut of khorne riding hero, over 2 turns he eats the whole unit except the champion who hits twices, wounds twice, snake eyes on the AS
Champion then gets involved in a combat with a unit of chosen warriors of khorne (as support for the unit with my general in) khorne flee and champion runs them down
Pissed off, some wizard casts an evil spell at the champion, miscasts, removed from the table
In all that champion killed about 700pts, over 1/3rd of his army

    Next game, also 2000pt vs skaven;
Turn 1, both cannons with misfire rerolls and my stone thrower blow themselves up

It all evens out in the end

Re: Share your WTF unlucky moments

    Excellent idea for topic.

This scenario took place in a 7th game :

In a 2400pts lizardmen vs high elf game I get turn one,
moves around a bit then gets to magic phase. This is what happend:

    I roll a 2 and a 1 for winds
Having a loremaster life Slann I figure it might make sense to just cast throne of vines this turn to either have him use some of his PD in his turn or leave me with it for my next turn

I throw the 3 dice. miscast.

I figure "...oh well...good thing it was throne of vines"
and then rolls a dice for throne to catch the miscast: a "1"
me and my opponent both laughs of the bitterness of the situation,
and I then proceed to roll on the miscast table: "snake eyes"
    *stops laughing*
being a little frustrated with the unfolding of the events I roll for the S10 hits
against my templeguard....5 out of 24 survives

I then (more or less already knowing the result) rolls for my slanns life.....a 2....down the drain with Slanny..

so....I went from 3-dicing Throne of Vines to losing my lvl4 Wizard/general/bsb and more or less his entire bodyguard to a dimensional cascade....turn 1.

"Everything went unexpected. Just as planned".

Re: Share your WTF unlucky moments

    7th edition, vs high elves.
White lions charge the sally who had shoot them in te previous turn. I decide to let her flee, but she flees throug the general+bsb unit. The unit flees and leaves the field passing trough another unit... which flees.

vs high elves, 1000 points: i went no magic, he had a lv1 beast wizard. I slaughtered his army, he only had the wizard and a bolt thrower left... then he used kadon on the wizard, killing my skrox, my CoC, my Oldblood on CO and everything else.

we should have another topic for WTF lucky moments ;)

perfect, so i can share THE moment of my warhammer life!

2 days by the release of the new book i faced a vampire counts player, and i just had to try kroak and tetto'eko (i also had a scroll caddy, a flying skink priest and a sacrificial skink priest with the forbidden rod. No BSB, no fighter heroes... lol). I vanguarded the flying skink thanks to Tetto and got the first turn. Since we were using a table which is smaller than the standard one with a march move the skink was able to park in the middle of the enemy army: the only thing i needed was a strong magic phase!

i prayed the dice gods so hard... and i got 2 power dices -_____-

my opponent was laughing so bad, but it wasn't over :bored:

he failed his channelling attempt, then i tried to channel... and i channeled 4 dices. My opponent stopped laughing, but it was just the beginning: i used the forbidden rod... and i got
    SIX
    MORE
    DICES
(the poor priest died, but it was for higher purposes)

now i had 12 power dices... and the poor undead general had only one dispel dice. it was my turn laughing when i discovered that he didn't have a dispell scroll: his plan was to snipe my main caster with death spells. I rolled for Tetto's ability and i got a 3: wonderful.

Since the dice gods were clearly helping me (for once...) i decided to risk: i casted
    SIX
    TIMES
the deliverance with 2 dice (Tetto helped)
(i had an IF on the last attemping, but no problems)

oh, sure... we used the bubble interpretation. After that day my opponent renamed Kroak in "Hiroshima Toad": the fat undead alien amphybian creature who was able to delete 2 hordes, 10 blood knights, a lord vampire and more in a single magic phase.

On his first turn his 500 points army ( :bored: ) surrended and we had another match :D

I had a game vs. DoC a year ago. Two units of six chameleon skinks were whittling down a block of blood letters.

I roll 24 dice and got 15 6's and 3 5's. All three 5's wounded. He failed all 18 ward saves and lost the entire unit.

We were friends, we stared at each other, gathered everyone around and had a nice laugh.

I also routinely fail cold blooded, miscast on three dice, fail 2+ saves, and get lots of rending in 40k. My dice like 1's and 6's.

My first run of the basti saw it get flank charged by a unit of Grail knights with their mighty great weapons.

4 wounds they rolled, i was scared up until that moment, so i confidently roll my dice assuming that i get at least one 4+, how could i ask for more?, just one...

    I rolr 1-2-3-3...

    The basti died that day.

It also managed to get off a Lazer each turn on 1 die, only to have it dispelled - on one die.

Playing a tough WoC army with Brettonians running an all cav army; I failed every single charge. I don't know what the odds are on that, but I had 6 knight units and I couldn't even manage to stick long enough to get a second unit to charge in... It was just awful, but there really wasn't any room to maneuver anyway as he was all out from turn one. This the case when I typically play him; hence no war machines.

Ok, so I had the shortest game in history, it ended in tragedy. I set my 2500 goblin siege army up, loaded down with rock lovers, bolt throwers, doom divers, tasty big blocks of archers and spear men, with hidden fanatics coming out the veritable behind!

Movement face concluded. Magic phase, no issues, nothing really cast. Shooting phase, shot 1 rock lobber, misfire, scatters straight and true, square onto the BSB, killing him, half the unit, they panic, they flee. The fanatics pop out and smash into the two nearest units, a doom diver destroying it, and a unit of archers with the shaman, causing them to flee, due to excess movement t the fanatic pops out the other side and hits more spearmen, which causes enough wou ds to cause a panic, and they too run, unleashing their fanatics.

Long story short, every unit succumbed to either panic, or failed a ld test due to crazy fanatics.....

My opponent didnt have to move a single model!

I think we've found a winner. I have never even heard of anything that crazy happenening, but it figures it would be goblins. I don't even know what I'd do if my opponent tabled himself top of turn 1... I'd probably would have just told you to restart your shooting phase and put your units back. Figures it'd be goblins.

Agreed, I am not sure anyone could beat that unless a VC player lost their general to a miscast first turn with no other LoV and their army crumbled. Anyone?

Axolotyl, if you live in the UK I'll make you a little signpost with "Own gole!" to stick on your rock lobbers base, if not, you should make one yourself

Losing combat to Skeletons with Temple guard, then breaking with leadership 10 CB re-roll, thus losing the slann, and then winning the game because my Old Blood killed an entire unit on it's own and the Temple guard rallied and then proceeded to kill said skeletons that they previously ran from...

Failing Throne of Vines rolls 8 times in a row across 3 games.

That goblin army was capable of the best wtf moments, i recal a manticore getting bulls eyed three games in a row with that rock lobber, and a dark elf lord on cold one chariot charging night goblin spearmen, having his chariot smashed by fanatics, then the next compulsory movement phase all three fanatics came back destroying lord and spearmen....

I have had all three shamans miscast same turn, had the entire army fail animosity AND had every night goblin fanatic attached to the same unit commit double dice suicide at the same time.....

If it goes wrong, blame it on a goblin!

Mines just a more of an overal feeling since I recieved my excellent lizardmen dice from this forum.

My blowpipes and saurus parry saves have been on fire. Lizardmen is an army of rolling sixes and these puppies can roll.

Blow all my armour saves, no problem 4/5 6+ parry saves.

Even had my opponent ask if he could roll a couple of my dice to "check" em.

When it comes to warhammer Better to be lucky than good I always say

top of turn one, My Vampire Counts opponanet hadnt even moved yet.

I cast dwellers on his Black KNight bus with the Vampire lord, Wraith King BSB, and Necromancer on horse all inside, I cast it with Irresitable force. SO the Bus of 13 knights loses 8 of them. Then he rolls for his BSB , Blam gone from the board, the Necro, Blam Gone from the board. He passes with his Vampire Lord.

So i roll the miscast and get Snakeeyes. The the Cupped hands roll, 2, so I passit to his vampire lord who then rolls a 1 top be sucked into the warp. Game over!

I soooooo miss Cupped Hands! Miscasts as offensive weapons were great.
