7th Ed. Shields question

I want to put a Scar Vet on a cold one in a 1500 point sized army, so my question is this. Can I equip him with a spear and the Shield of the Mirrored Pool? I'm unclear on the rules surrounding spears and shields.

Since a spear is a one-handed weapon, you can indeed have a spear and a shield.

Thanks for the reply. I'm planning on an 8 strong CoR unit with the Scar Vet making up part of that 8.
