Got an interesting battle in a couple of weeks, me (lizzies), dwarves & empire vs dark elves, skaven & vamps. We're defending a castle so have 1/2 the points to spend that the baddies do, I'm looking at 1666 points & looking after offensive magic and skirmish. Here's the list: Slann Reservoir of eldritch energy Harmonic convergence Focus of mystery Rod of channelling 10 skink skirmishes x6 Jav & shield Skink priest Lore of beasts Cloak of feathers Skink chief Ancient Steg Sharpened horns 3 Terradon riders 20 Temple Guard Musician Stdrd Bearer Comes in at 1645, I think we're gonna get bum raped, any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Bastiladon wouldn't be too bad, might be able to snipe a hellpit. If you are running High Magic try out a good sized unit of razordons as well (maybe 4, instead of TG). Defending a castle usually means you want maximum shooting, as the enemy should have relatively few ways to get into the castle. I imagine Razordons shooting down off the walls would be in hard cover and skirmished, so -3 to hit. hehehe. Though I have no idea what the setup will be. If you don't have any chokepoints, then you are probably screwed.
Lots of chokes, they have to pick up bombs to blow up the castle walls, shooting might be the way to go.
you have 6x 10 skink skirmish with jav and shield? why jav and shields??? you are shooting blowpipe with multiple shoots xD take one of that units out and make it to skink cohort and place your slann there that will protect him against shooting but els i agree with Caneghem
More than likely dwarves will have some heavy infantry to block the chokepoints. Hopefully the Slann will be well behind the fighting, using the skink priest to get his damage spells off. Just keep him in range of those Razordons for Hand of Glory!
