    Hey guys,

I'm starting a Lizardmen army for 8th edition with some friends, and I'm planning on running a Slann in Temple Guard, as I love that image. The Slann model is a little, eh, though.

I was thinking about trying to convert it to be supported by twisting branches and vines, and general plant undergrowth all over. Are there any... plant bits that would come in handy? Or is it gonna be greenstuff all the way?

And has anyone else already had this idea and done it better than me? For that matter, I'd be interested to see all sorts of uniquely (or not so uniquely) converted Slann.

Some plastic aquarium/floral shop filiage might help along with some sturdy wire,
But I suspect you are still going to need some green stuff, and I think you might
be one of the first to try it in this site.

I know there is someone on this forum (sorry to whoever it is that I can't remember  ) who has converted the Slann's palanquin to be held up by a large pile of skulls... if that gives you any ideas ;)

    I love the idea!

    It's this thread page 10:

For vines and branches I would suggest maybe using metal pieces such as nails and stuff to give the base design some security and strength and then building over them with 'green stuff'. You could also maybe invest in a Treekin from the Wood Elf army and use it as branches for your base.. Just some thoughts :) And I hate to break it to you, if I pick Lore of Life over Lore of Light I may just end up stealing your idea ;)

when i first started to play i ran into another lizardman that had a similar idea, but the cool thing was his slann was being held up by a converted treeman. it was really cool and one of the reasons i started to play lizardmen.

um some ideas were to get some branches is from some bitz of dryads, the are just short compared to the stick they give you to hold up your slann but get a few and it will look like a bunch of roots are holding your slann

    hopes this helps :D

P.S. i am kicking myself for not takeing a picture of it when he was still around :rage:

    Hehe, that's my Slann! :D
If you want to go the route of trees and stuff holding it up, then there's an excellent example in the current Rulebook on page 341. What he probably did was stick a strong metal rod coming from the base and secured it into the base of the palanquin. Then he glued bits of branches from the Warhammer Woods kit to the rod to disguise it as a branch. That's what it looks like to me, anyways.

Thanks for all the input guys.

So there is a conversion in the 8th edition rulebook then? That's funny, I haven't picked one up yet - I'll have to check it out though.

I think I'll try to support him with something metal (I'll have to look at the treemen, etc). The dryad bits sound like a good possibility so I don't have to hand sculpt so much.

If it turns out decent I'll post it up - and maybe even if it doesn't!
