I have seen people support Skink armies here and there so I was wondering people and their thoughts here? I don't think a pure Skink army is entirely viable in the way a Night Goblin army might be because of a certain lack of dedicated CC Skink units outside of Beasts.
I realy like them fluff wise and the dino's but your opponent will not laugh with it, so much evading and so many monsters. it sin't always easy to play an full skink army. against army's with a lot of big blocks where your monsters doens't do enough damage to break them you have a problem, becaus some skirmishers will not kill them either. a skrox block can do something but together with an monster it needs to be possible to break them.
Ripperdactyls are dangerous stuff in CC. They mostly need that flank/rear charge, but if they do, they'll wreck things hard, especially if they have that unit marked with a toad. Skrox units are also popular, because they have the benefits of skinks (poisoned stand and shoot is good) and 3 S7 hits per kroxigor is really good at opening up cans, like dwarves and chaos warriors. The main problem is their pathetic leadership. If you refuse to use a slann, you really need tehenhauin.
The only sauruses I take are olb bloods and scar-vets. No saurus warriors or temple guards, not even skrox with the 8th ed armybook. It really depends on playstyle, but in my opinion, a pure list of this or that wont work in a competition. Youll need a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Skinks are cunning and subtle units, and the the saurus characters are death incarnate.
Stay away from close combat. Unless your egg goes off, the Kroxigor won't hold up for ever. Of course if my magic would go off more often...
