Anyone ever thought it'd be worth taking a unit of Skink Chiefs for lulz? Or are they just too, too crap?

There are a couple builds that can actually be useful but mainly for protecting other stuff by using the rules for MC that stop cannon balls when the MC doesn't die. The example that comes to mind is a skink chief on terradon with charm shield & amulet of itzl. Park him in front of something important like a steggie, scar vet/old blood cowboy and watch him eat the first two cannon balls. After that, you might even get lucky and have him take only 1-2 wounds from a 3rd shot but that is about it. Offensively, most of the build seems to be suicide runs that involve a combo of potion of strength and ASF weapon to assassinate a wizard. Only problem is the low WS means that you are likely to need 4's to hit against most wizards and thus stand a good chance of failing to kill anything with even a little bit of bad luck.

I think he means multiple Skink Chiefs in one unit.

YIKES, that would be one crap-tacular unit of futility!! Given that one skink chief is hard to justify at the best of times, fielding multiples in one unit would be a tactic reserved only for when one is trying to lose the game :D

Whilst I fear for our new army book that it goes full retard with LOL NEW BIG MODELS N CRAP, it's going to be GREAT when our over priced things like Swarms and Chiefs are reigned in...

I tried to run a lore of beasts slann, with several units of multiple skink chiefs. It didn't really work, as you really need at least 2 of the spells to go off per round, otherwise there's trouble. I got dispelled, and my chiefs destroyed. I'm still meaning to try it again, as last time I totally forgot I'd taken rumination...

I was kicking around a similar concept except based around 4 scar vet heroes and a Slann with the fencer's blades. I know you get a lower hero count with SVs, but the idea of each of them going to str 8 with 7 attacks with savage beast seems like it could be quite nice. What's even better is two of them have ASF swords and one has the I10 sword. Haven't got to try it out but it seems like it could be good for a laugh. Even the Slann goes to WS10 str6 5attacks.

I'm going to a tourney where you're not allowed 3 units of terradons. I'm going to try out:

Skink Chief - Terradon, Spear, Light Armour, Shield of Ptolos

He's able to help double flee, won't die to any shooting that's not a cannon (which have to try and shoot the Scar Vets realistically) and is able to beat small units of chaff or war machines on his own.

That's the plan at least. I'll let yall know how it really goes.
