Hello everyone! So I played my first game in roughly a decade last weekend, and had a blast! I'm looking to try a new strategy for this next game (7th edition, but hear me out!) and I wanted to abuse the Slann casting through a Skink Priest. I'm going try a Lore of Death Slann to snipe opposing heroes and whittle down ranks from behind them, using a TG block w/ slann to cast the nasty close range stuff at whatever they throw my way. This is just meant to be a fun experiment, I know that buffs/debuffs would probably be stronger. Anyways! I was thinking of equipping my Skink Priest with Cloak of Feathers to get into nasty spots.. And then I started to worry about counter charges.. so I thought about putting the Jaguar charm on him as well! Crazy? The death spells have a range of 24' (missles at least) already, and now my priest can fly 40' in a turn and cast. I don't see it as overkill though. I thought about it as getting him either WAAAAYYY far behind them and just sit there sniping, or, he can flyout to cast something, and then jaguar back (last spell I would cast) to the safety of my saurus and TG blocks. Any thought son this? Is it redundant? I am going to miss the Diadem/Dispel Scroll.
That's my thought! Is death the best lore (from 7th!) for this role however? Fire and metal are also good.. I usually fight WoC, VK, Daemons, and Orcs
Unfortunately, the Charm of the Jaguar Warrior and the Cloak of Feathers are both Enchanted Items, so cannot both be taken by the same Priest.
Dunno about 7th but in 8th i take something pretty similar with feathered cloak and either ruby ring ruin or rod of storms. Normally however the ruby ring is on a skink on the horned one since they faq it and its no longer a item but a normal mount choice.
It doesn't play as a magical item but it is bought as one with all the relevant rules still applying, unless I missed something in the FAQ.
I would agree with this. When I first read the FAQ "change" I thought through it for a few minutes, and I came to the same conclusion. I think it changes little, and was done simply to prevent it from being destroyed by spells/effects that destroy magic items to prevent a cavalry model from being turned into infantry. Frankly, I think it sucks that we can't take more than one because what is clearly a mount was listed as an Enchanted Item. Lame.
