does anyone else find a skink priest with feathered cloak usefull.
I run mine with a cloak of feathers and plaque of tepok so i can jump 20inches just behind an enemy unit throw lots of dice at spells, generally chain lightning, uranon or comet or a buff if i dont have one then use the spell to blow up the enemy amd the miscast to blow him up.

does anyone else do this or in fact what do you do with your skink priest?

That's the same way I set up my priest, although my army has not seen much action recently :rage:

I was thinking to use a skink priest (lvl 2) with a power scroll. Only 1/3 chance you get the comet, but casting that boosted comet using the power scroll and using 7 dice is a guaranteed double. 6 should do aswell. Imagine the boosted comet being cast with IF in the first turn. Thats gonna hurt your opponent, miscast or not :p

You can only throw 6 dice from the power pool at a spell. Things that generate dice after you've picked up the dice you are using can go over that, i.e. a slann's extra die. That said, if you are just shooting for doubles, burning 6 dice seems excessive. I'd probably throw 4-5 max.

I had been running a lvl 2 with cloak + dispel scroll, but I realized I was rarely casing anything but heavens signature spell with him. (I find most of heavens to be over-costed and underwhelming compared to my Slann with Life.) He did put in the occasional charge on a fleeing unit, but overall he was wasted.

So I dropped the extra lvl and traded in the scroll and cloak for the cube of darkness; the points I saved let me put the razor standard on my Temple Guard.

I've used the cloak of feathers on a priest before with mixed results. It's nice to have that manuverability for your lvl 2 and channeling from your slann. However it never really payed off for me so I generally don't use it unless I am running magic heavy without a slann (which seems rediculous, I know!).

Better than 1/3 actually, since if you roll the same spell twice you get to pick. 4/9 is the actual probability. You have 2/3 chance of getting comet or chain lightning or both.

I was also thinking if I were to roll a 5 on the first roll (the roll for the Skink with the cloak and plaque), that I would change that 5 for the signature spell. That way I could get the 5 again on my second roll (skink with the power scroll).

I think you roll all your spells at once. But I agree that the signature spell is pretty good!
