so as you recall i was inquiring about the worth of the slann steggie and chakax earlier. now that ive made my decision, i have a problem before me. i have to edit my army list to include the new guys. all together the army now is aprox. 2030. clearly i overshot. so i need to cut down blah blah blah. Anyways straight to the point. i need to know, when you have a Skink priest on the Ancient steggie with EOTG, does it count as a hero, rare unit, or both? as you know (hopefully) according to the newest edition of the Lizardman handbook, the Ancient Steggie with the EotG is an upgrade for the Skink priest. im hoping this means that it all counts as a hero. but im not sure which is why im asking you guys.

The Skink Priest counts as a hero choice, the Steg with the Engine doesn't count as anything. You just have to pay the 290pts for the upgrade, that's it. No extra hero slot, no rare slot, nothing. The whole model takes up just 1 hero slot.

Yes you have to pay the base price of the priest and then the upgrade on top of that.

And yeah, none of our mounts take up slots anymore. Even the carnosaur, which is better than last edition, no longer takes a hero slot. Its great!

since you mentioned it, i havent seen carnosaurs other than the Hero one Kroq gar. do we have to buy many kroq gar and convert him to normal saurus? or is there some secret carnosaur unit i dont know about?

Why would you need more than one carnosaur? Are you getting mixed up with cold ones?

Kroq Gar is the only way to get one unless you bits order it from GW, but you can easily convert the rider.

no i was under the impression that there were more carnosaur models that could be played in a game besides the one with Kroq gor. Here was my reasoning, there was an entire page dedicated to the Carnosaur in the Lizardmen army book that also gave stats and no mention of Kroq gor, the other thing is i keep hearing people talk about carnosaurS, as if there are more than one. so i thought there was some unit or something liek the Cold one riders, but stronger.

Well people buy the Kroq Gar model and just use him as a normal old blood on carnosaur, which is arguably better since it will cost less points and you can customize his equipment. Most units/models get a full page in the book, korq gar has his own page and in fact his carnosaur is better than a normal one. If you want to see where the option to take one is, look in the army lists section for the mount option for old bloods, it will give a point cost for them. That is the only place you can take one aside from Kroq Gar.
