When discovering Diadem of Power (arcane item) in the new book I was certain that I would use it in combination with a Dispel Scroll for my Caddie. It just seems so much better than the normal combination of 2 scrolls. DoP + Scroll: 5 DD + 1 DS 2x Scrolls: 3 DD + 2 DS What do you think?
I think that the 5 dd is better then 2 scrolls, my reason is at times some peoples magic is just acouple of powerdice and also at times they might not get it out, and don't want to waste a Scroll until you really need it. Thats my thinking, hope it helps.
I think the cube and dispell scroll will bring you over the 50 points magic item limit. A lv 2 mage still only nets you one power dice. Personally I play extremes, I either play all casters with a single CC or I play all CC with a lv 1 caddy with 2 dispell scrolls. The best thing in warhammer is to rule at least one phase, if you can cast, shoot or CC without real compitition you have the game.
It really depends on what kind of list you are building. If he is going to be your sole magic defense guy and is going to be riding the EotG in a heavy CC list, I'd say diadem and scroll all the way. Engine upgrades him to lvl 2 mage for free, then he can store 2 power dice as dispel dice. Since your magic phase is virtually nonexistant, burning his power dice for defense doesn't matter much anyway. In a magic heavy list, you are already going to have a lot of dispel dice. You are also going to try to bring as many power dice to the table as possible. The 2 scrolls would be better for this type of army, as they wouldn't interfere with his power dice.
If you are putting him on an engine you may as well just pay the 35 points so the engine puts him up to lv 3 and nets you 2 power dice.
I agree with your reasoning, Caneghem. My list will only include a lv. 1 priest w/EOTG, so I am going for DoP and a Scroll.
I am leaning toward the diadem, it is a good extra 2 DD which I think is more useful than stopping one spell in a game.
