My main army line consists of a pretty closely packed TG block, 2x SW Block and a krox skink horde (to get the leadership bubble) Those of course is a tempting target for warmachines. Normally I'd deploy my skink skirmishers on the flanks or in between units. But I was wondering if I depoyed them ranked in front of my blocks, 10 in front of each would they block line of sight from warmachines at all? I'd follow close enough so than when they fled from a charge they'd run past th efront of my army and get shunted to the back. Any merit to this idea?
haven't played many games myself so don't take this as gospel, but i've read (or overheard) that 8th ed. rules use real line of sight for warmachines. Meaning you'd be able to see a Krox towering over a bunch of runty Skinks and be able to aim at the Skrox unit anyway. wouldn't that mean your skirmishers will cause a panic test on those units they fled through? It'd be hard to charge anyone around your skirmisher units too. 49.
Thanks for the reply, yeah after much over hearing as well. The "tactic" of blocking and stuff is gone. True Line of Sight makes more sense anyways so I'll stop looking for ways to be cheesy
I could be wrong, but i think a line of skirmishers would provde some cover, giving -1 to hit if they're rolling to hit. Positioning is tricky though, if your skirmishers get charged then you don't want the charging unit to have the reach to redirect into your line troops.
