Blog Skinks, Skinks, Skinks, Dino... oh and more Skinks

Still loving your color scheme. Just enough red/orange on the minis and the base to make them really stand out. And all that beautiful basing :lurking:

I am a fan of green Lizardmen models so naturally I am a fan :android::lurking::meh::wideyed::D:D

Awesome!! Great, great work especially when you consider the number of models you're dealing with… As for the bases, maybe more green would be cool, but to my mind what you could do as well would be to use more saturated colours on the ground. It looks awesome anyway! Even being a bit pale they have good contrast with the skin…

Ok, long time no post. With March just starting i am looking to push out the rest of the work. I do need some help on the bases. Below is my "finshed" skink priest. I use quotations as i need to add tattoos. But, do you think i need to include some static grass or flock? i was thinking of adding some static grass to make the back piece to make it look a little over grown. Maybe some on the rock face to break up the brown too? i feel like the rock face washes out the stone floor, so maybe some green (or maybe that dried winter green) static grass will help. Let me know your thoughts.

Also, quick shout out to @Lherad for posting how he painted the off white skin with pink! I didnt achieve anywhere close to your painting but i really enjoyed adding a unique tone. The old fluff of spawning pools and differing skink hides is what im chasing. So the Skink Chiefs will be blazing orange or maybe a deep red while all the magic wielding skinks will be this off white.

Absolutely love your rendition of the stegopriest

I'm back!
I thought the website crashed or was lost. But, i finally found the page!
So below is my latest update. It's a Kroxigor. I'm still slowly piecing through the painting.

Moving on to paint the rest of the Krox and move to the Steg. I think i want to paint the Steg red or reddish brown. So if you have any feedback or painting tips, fire away.
Cheers

Nice work. Good use of complementary colors.

Ok after a long time away.... the new year has been slightly productive.

Finished 2 additional Kroxs and started 3 more

Laid down some foundation colours on the three Raz.

Oh and started playing around with the stone work of the steg...

For the remainder of the month i want to start laying down some colours on these guys and finish up the last of the 40 remaining skinks... (ugh skinks...)

As i am about to buy some old school saurus, i am thinking of having them with blue-green scales and dark green flesh. That way i can tie in the temple guard with having dark green flesh and reddish brown scales.... which will hopefully tie into the steg that will be reddish brown? Not sure on the final plan, but its time to paint!

As always, please leave any feedback!
Cheers

It's looking great so far! Love the colours on the Krox. 40 skinks sure is a lot though… You deserve congratulations just for taking them on if you ask me ^^

Status update: finished the steg base, and my skink heros.

Tomorrows plan is to finish skink crew of the steg and try start and finish 20 additional skinks (just in case i want to change the army list). With all of that done, the 1000pts is complete except for 1 more razordon (there are 3 in the mail... i will build all 3 just in case i want to drop 2 salamanders for 2 razordons).

Additionally, I want to jump into painting ASAP, my vision is a lighter green skin with a darker green scale. i will use a bright red for tattoos (to make them pop) with a brass or rustic copper for the metals. bases will be dirt and a sandstone. let me know your thoughts!

Did you use an Aztec Rolling Pin for the imprints on the bases? Looks really amazing so far! Was thinking of getting one for my bases but decided against it, maybe another time.

Those skinks and Kroxigors just look amazing man, massive skink fan myself and after finally getting my starter box I can wait to start my hobby journey after so long out and getting myself some cheeky skinks in the coming months!

ALL HAIL SOTEK

Ok i am crawling out of the spawning pool to get back to posting! Some updates include:
Finishing more skinks and kroxigors.
Printing and painting some terrain
Pyramid 1.jpg Pyramid 2.jpg
Printing a lot of models (Bastiladon solar engine? and Troglodon)
Solar Engine.jpg Troglodon.jpg

And started working my new center piece.... SOTEK!
Sotek Printing.jpg Sotek In Progress 1.jpg Sotek 1.jpg Cat and Sotek.jpg

Yeah, Sotek is gigantic. I have been slowly chipping through the painting of this beast. The goal is to get this centerpiece done early next year.

Cheers

Thank you! they are from Lost Kingdom's range. You just have to support them and its good to go

Happy New Year to all! i started the year by working on Sotek. The goal was to try knock out all the red areas of the model. The red effect i am chasing is an almost stained fire look.
Sotek Head.jpg
So hopefully that looks ok... I don't really know where to take the red. But, done is better than perfect! So we will keep chugging along.

This weeks goals are to finish the belly (kind of a sandy grey look) and start on the wings.

Cheers
