Hi, I'm have a problem: do I chose to have a standard bearer in my skink unit or a brave: it would only be in a unit of 13 If that helps.

    Thanks

If I had to choose between those two, I usually go with the Standard Bearer. But with Skinks... If that small unit gets into a combat, they are probably dead anyway, so you just give additional Victory Points to the enemy. On the other hand, Braves only get one extra attack (and the ability to accept challenges), so in my mind, it's not very useful either.

    So for me, it's:

    None, or
Brave if the unit is small or
Standard bearer if the unit is large and/or contains Kroxigors

Hah, just after answering to this, I went through the forums and found out there are several other discussions going on about the same subject.

If I am playing a tournament that has blood and glory (or if you play that in a friendly game) I always take a standard bearer, use the unit and a Mage bunker and keep it near the back, usually a safe standard to give you another point before breaking

Also many fast units that people use to get round the side - eagles or spirit hosts e.t.c can actually be beaten in combat when a standard bearer is oresent as the combat res from a rank and a standard puts you 2 up (1 on the turn they charge), even if they do 3+ wounds you should still be steadfast for a turn or two
