8th Ed. Skirmisher-only Core - is it still appealing?

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to run a quick question by you all - would you still consider a Core section composed of nothing but Skink Skirmishers to be a strong choice? I've read about this being an option a lot of players opted for in the last book and using it to double-flee ad nauseam, but right now the Ld5 base makes that a lower-percentage play than it once was. I was also a bit surprised by that, given that I am a fan of what Saurus Warriors can bring to the table - a beefy combat block on its own that's one buff away from being devastating, and rock solid on the Ld front at 8 + Cold-Blooded. What say you on this?

The only problem I can see with it is the question of where you get your fortitude from in blood and glory, you're basically left with multiple units of TG or CoC as the only way to recruit standards, but if you're playing in a meta that doesn't use that stupid scenario I think a cloud list could do very well. Despite the Ld nerf they are still the most cost-effective core unit available to us.

One of my Empire friends likes his warmachines, so my expensive saurus (and monsters!) get picked off quite easily, he does hat skink skirmishers though

I would like to see his face if I deployed nothing but skink skirmishers
an then a few cavalry maybe
