Hi, this has surely been answered elsewhere but I couldn't find any satisfying answers to my question,

Namely, in what formation do us usually run your skrox units? Horde?

I'm thinking of making a small skrox unit of 24 skinks and 3 kroxigors, what formation do you sugest?

    6x5 or maybe 10x3?

    Grateful for any answers :)

I usually run a unit that has 2 kroxigors either 6 or 7 wide. If I have 3 kroxigors, I will run the unit 10 wide. Also, if I have 3 Kroxigors, I will usually run at least 40 skinks. 60 or so works better.

The largest unit of Kroxigors that I have ever used was 95 skinks and 4 Kroxigors. My opponent in that game was actually running away from that skink unit.

if i were to run these guys (but i dont) i would go 3 kroxigors, and 6 skinks wide. that way you get all the juicy kroxigor attacks at as small a frontage as possible while keeping your rank bonus and steadfast. never EVER go for a horde, since it will just allow more skinks to attack (and they dont do damage) and will often deny your steadfast. these guys will lose to most things, but they can potentially remain steadfast a long tome and grind down expensive elite units to more manageable size.

Lord Tsunami is right - horde is bad. You don't bring Skrox because of the attacks of the skinks - your bring Skrox so that the skinks soak up damage and retain steadfast whilst the Kroxigor hand out the pain.

I run a formation of 22 skinks + 2 Kroixgor. Including full command that only sets you back 242 points. Worth every penny.

Because you need 8 skinks for every Krox, the build Tusnami is talking about would cost 307 points. I'm tempted to try it, but I don't feel that the additonal 60 points are worth another 3 strength 6 attacks.

I see one point when Horde might be a good idea, but I haven't had the guts (or until recently the Kroxigor models to try it.

Anyone try 5 Kroxigors with 40+ Skinks?

Another thing I want to try is the exact opposite. Blocks of 10-16 Skinks with one Kroxigor and keeping these units next to Saurus my Saurus at all times. Their only job would be to make supporting flank attacks. Even one Kroxigor adds attacks, leadership, immunity to stomp and Fear.

If I had 2 kroxigors, I would have 22 Skinks, possibly even 28. Steadfast is very important, without it Skrox would be almost useless. I remember the day I cast Flesh to Stone along with Throne of Vines, toguhness 6 skinks, 28 toughness 6 skinks, eat that!

I use small Skrox units like that. 11 skinks minimum so they'll be 5X3 for that chance at a wee rank bonus (Buddy likes spirit hosts) and enough weight to throw around a bit. I've found it to be very handy on a flank. I HIGHLY recommend buying a musician for it as well. With the free reform I managed to keep a unit of swordsmasters dancing about for most of a game. Totally worth the points.

Now I have a good 30 cohort skinks already, do you think this is enough for charging elites, say 2 Krox 28 skinks? Also would they just flank charge any ongoing combat they combat they come to or should they have certain priorities?
