It just dawned on me that since the kroxigors are no longer considered in base contact, they don't cause fear in the enemy. I think that the skrox unit is still immune to fear though. I guess it's a fair price to pay for having them be un-assailable behind their skink bodyguards. EDIT: Sorry for the pointless thread, the FAQ is pretty darn clear.
Mmm not suprosing really is it? I havnt had it happen since the lore of life has kept them all alive so far.
Mmmmm, an interesting point was brough to me. If I've got a unit of skrox that's down to 8 skinks (6 in the front row and one on each kroxigor's side) and 2 krox, my opponent attacks the front rank (T2) but casualties are taken from the back rank (wounds on the Krox). So, I've basically got some T2 Kroxigors? Phil
No, as the front rank skinks die the krox are brought forward into the fighting rank, as per the lizzardman book
But the thing is, under 8th ed. the front rank skinks aren not taken away as casualties anymore, so the Krox can't step up... Phil
That's like saying if a character declines a challenge and goes to the back rank wounds wold be taken from him first,,, Front rank skinks can die just as easily as back rank skinks, if there are only 5 skinks left, and 2 die, you lose 2 front rank skinks, and one of the krox moves foreword, exactly as it says in the LM book
You're using a rule worded for single-type units to describe what happens to a mixed unit. And even then, casualties taken from the back is still just a time saver. The front rank is the one doing the dying, it's just easier to remove from the back than to shuffle the back models forward. If the attacks are targeted against skinks (which is the case since Krox can no longer be targeted in the second rank) then skinks are removed as casualties until enough are removed to place the Krox in the front rank (as described by the army book) and then be wounded on their own stat line.
