I was trying to come up with an alternative list of 2000 points where I want to try Skrox for fun. Skrox is great however the speed of how fast Skinks die in close combat is terrifying (unless against very weak troops). I wonder has anyone tried using Skrox with Lore of Life? With the +2/+4 toughness, I feel that a Skrox unit will excel since Skinks is so cheap and they will actually be so hard to kill. With Krox giving S6 hits the enemy should have a tough time. Lore of beast may be a great choice too, giving Skinks S4 T3, not much protection since T3 is still not amazing, but S4 attacks from all the Skinks should be effective. If the enemy WS is 4 or less, then they are basically giving the same attacking power of a bunch of Saurus on a 20mm base. However I feel the same can't be said for Lore of Light. The two buffs won't benefit Skrox as much as one spell from Life/Beast would and we cannot stop the Skinks from dying so fast except for PHa's Protection of -1 to-hit. What do you guys think? If you run Skrox heavy list would you say you will still choose Light? Or is it gonna be Life all the way?
Re: Krox with Light or Life Slann? I like Light most for skrox. Adding 7 and 8 to WS is quite the boost. Hard to get away from that. Krox hitting on 3+ is great. And anything with WS4 or lowers is at 5+ hitting back. Combine that with PHA's and they are hitting on 6s. Add a skink with Heaven's signature and even WS 9 and 10 will be hitting back on 6s. Combine any of those two and you are almost guaranteed to win combat or at the very least stay steadfast. And the prospect of hitting at 3+ with the krox is worth needing the extra spell to keep the skinks near unkillable. I feel the only reason to run skrox core over saurus is because you are going up against things with S5 or S6 core units like ogres or daemons. Which makes the + to toughness much less useful than the + to weapon skill and -1 to hitting. But if you were thinking more of an all comers army, I think life and light would be more comparable.
To be honest all three would work well. My only point would be to remember that the kroxigors have great weapons so if you're using light then you'd need to give them ASF and I10 to I get them striking first (assuming your opponent doesn't have ASF). Other lores are less dependent as you don't need to get both spells off.
