I'm debating between either taking Temple Guard and having the Slann in them OR taking another block of Saurus and have the Slann float around on his own.

I tried looking at the book and the FAQ, but the Slann does get a look out sir in Temple Guard due to being infantry... or am I wrong?

I'm torn as Temple Guard look like they are a very reliable unit, especially with a slann in them giving them full benefit of their special rules.

Downside is they are pricier, but is the price worth it? The second problem is also: I'm looking at making a classic model Lizard army. That said, I'm looking for Temple Guard two sculpts ago (to match 5th ed era Saurus). So they'll be harder to find, while having a second unit of 5th ed Saurus would be easy enough to acquire.

If the slann floats, he'd have different powers. The Ethereal one being the most obvious, but are there equipment items I should look too due his floating?

I think ultimately the temple guard are not worth it, unless you are playing a life slann in a totally un comped enviroment (and you want to be bored to tears).

A slann can hide in lots of lizard units. Skink skirmishers are pretty good, good movement and -1 to hit.

slann moving at 4, skinks movement doesn't matter. They all go at 4. But -1 to hit still remain :)

Hence why i didnt write movement RATE, he would have all the benefits of skirmisher movement (march and reform each turn etc)
This would allow him to better target spells arcoss the board, really effective when combined with a priest.

Just finished a 5 game tourney with a light slann in a 10 skink skirmisher bunker. It was fantastic.
The free movement from any direction is awseome, got him out of some tight binds. Small light units that might be able to get behind lines to tieup the slann can be shot down by the skinks.

And lastly I miscast and did the S10 hit to everyting in base contact..... pondered for a second and said they are all 0.5" a part so nothings in base contact. Judge agreed.

Gone are my days of exploding 90 pts of temple guard b/c of double 6's

I thought that would be undisputable?

Its oen of the many benefits of running a skirmisher bunker, the blast effects are also reduced significantly. If you know you want to six dice something there is no reason not to reform so that the slann is the last model in a a line of 10 skinks (horizontal or congo).
